“Mirza Ghalib” (1954) was a movie based on the like of Great Urdu Poet Mirza Ghalib (1797-1869) who lived before the age of movies, but it is curious to note that he is in fact the lyricist of the songs of this movie that was produced some one century after his era.
Here is a song from this movie. It is sung by Rafi and music is composed by Ghulam Mohammad. Bharat Bhushan, who plays Mirza Ghalib, is there in the picturisation, but this song is not lip synced by him. Rather, this song is picturised on a bit actor playing a fakeer.
Here is this song. This song contains the memorable Ghalib sher
“hain aur bhi duniyaa mein sukhanwar bahut achchhe
kahte hain ki Ghaalib kaa hai andaaz-e-bayaan aur”

Song-Hai bas ke har ek un ke ishaare mein(Mirza Ghalib) (1954) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Mirza Ghalib, MD-Ghulam Mohammad
Lyrics
hai bas ki har ek un ke ishaare mein nishaan aur
karte hain muhabbat to guzartaa hai gumaan aur
yaa rab na wo samjhe hain
na samjhenge meri baat
yaa rab na wo samjhe hain
na samjhenge meri baat
de aur bhi dil unko
jo na de mujhko zabaan aur
de aur bhi dil unko
jo na de mujhko zabaan aur
tum shahar mein ho to
hamen kyaa gham jab uthenge
tum shahar mein ho to
hamen kyaa gham jab uthenge
le aayenge baazaar se
jaakar dil-o-jaan aur
le aayenge baazaar se
jaakar dil-o-jaan aur
hain aur bhi duniyaa mein sukhanwar bahut achchhe
hain aur bhi duniyaa mein sukhanwar bahut achchhe
kahte hain ki Ghaalib kaa hai andaaz-e-bayaan aur
kahte hain ki Ghaalib kaa hai andaaz-e-bayaan aur
hain aur bhi duniyaa mein sukhanwar bahut achchhe
kahte hain ki Ghaalib kaa hai andaaz-e-bayaan aur
kahte hain ki Ghaalib kaa hai andaaz-e-bayaan aur

I think this was the only Rafi song in the movie. The rest picturised on Bharat Bhushan were by Talat and those on Suraiyya were of course by the lady herself.

Yes, Bharat Bhushan lip syncs in Talat Mehmood’s voice in this movie.
