In 1950s, Talat Mehmood, then a leading playback singer, also tried his hands in acting. He started played leading roles in several movies.
He was signed up by A R Kardar to play the lead role in “Dil e Nadaan” (1953). A R Kardar decided to introduce a new actress to play the lead role opposite Talat Mehmood. An All India beauty contest was organised to find the lady. The winner of this contest was Peace Kanwal, and she was signed up for this movie.
This movie also had Shyama in it.
Here is a piano song from this movie. It shows Talat Mehmood seated on the piano and singing, whereas the two ladies Shyama and Peace Kanwal, stand before her with papers in their hands and singing with him. This song is sung by Talat Mehmood (for himself), Sudha Malhotra (for Shyama) and Jagjit Kaur (for Peace Kanwal). Lyrics are written by Shakeel Badayuni and music is composed by Ghulam Mohammad.
The picturisation shows Shyama singing while looking smilingly and invitingly at Talat Mehmood. In addition to singing, she multi tasks and wooes Talat Mehmood with her facial expressions. Towards the end of the song, she also slips in a love letter in Talat Mehmood’s pocket.
All this while, Peace Kanwal is seen sticking to basics (viz. concentrating on the singing).
I have not seen this movie, but the movie surely seems interesting, going by the picturisation of this song.
