When I began this blog, I discussed songs at the rate of one song per day. Soon I began to discuss more songs every day. With time, I created pages to keep the list of songs in some order. Now there are pages that list songs by movie, by music director as well as by year.
The latest page that I have created is the “some stats” page, which gives a summary of number of songs (music director wise, lyricist wise and singer wise) that have been discussed in these pages. This is valuable for statistics minded readers (like Raja- whose suggestion it was) and for me as well. It was through this list that I came to know that Lata was nearing 1000 songs of her own in this blog. It helped me plan to coincide Lata’s 1000th song with blog’s 3000th song.
This list helps me keep track of other landmarks as well. After Lata, Rafi is the next singer approaching 1000 mark. Next are Asha Bhonsle and Kishore Kumar, though they are in their 400s. Mukesh is next in his 200s. Geeta Dutt is in high 100s. Manna Dey has also completed his century.
I recently noticed that Talat Mehmood was in his nervous 90s for quite some time. So I made a conscious effort to post a few Talat Mehmood songs every day to help him reach his century.
And here it is ! This song is the 100th song of Talat Mehmood in this blog. That makes him the 8th singer (and 28th overall) to complete his century in this blog. 13 music directors and seven lyricists have also completed their centuries in this blog.
So here is this duet song from “Duniya Gol Hai” (1955). Though only its audio is available, this movie had Karan Dewan and Anita Guha in it and so it can be assumed that the song was picturised on them.
Here is this song. Everyone involved in this song is a centurion in this blog. Yes, this song is sung by Talat Mehmood (100 songs) and Lata (1096 songs). Lyrics is written by Rajinder Krishan (315 songs) and music is composed by C Ramchandra (118 songs).
