Agar mujhse muhabbat hai
Posted on: January 10, 2011
I was under the impression that I had already discussed this song long back, and so I was surprised to know that I was wrong. I do not know how I missed discussing this song in the past.
Here is this timeless classic from “Aap Ki Parchhaayiaan” (1964). This song which is sung by Lata is picturised on Supriya Chaudhary and Dharmendra. Raja Mehdi Ali Khan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Madan Mohan. I thank Lalitha for pointing out that this song was still missing from this blog.

Song-Agar mujhse muhabbat hai (Aap Ki Parchhaayian) (1964) Singer-Lata, Lyrics- Raja Mehdi Ali Khan, MD-Madan Mohan
Lyrics
agar mujh se muhabbat hai
mujhe sab apne gham de do
agar mujh se muhabbat hai
mujhe sab apne gham de do
in aankhon kaa har ik aansoo
mujhe meri qasam de do
agar mujh se muhabbat hai
tumhaare gham ko apnaa gham
banaa loon to qaraar aaye
tumhaare gham ko apnaa gham
banaa loon to qaraar aaye
tumhaaraa dard seene mein
chhupaa loon to qaraar aaye
wo har shai jo tumhen dukh de
mujhe mere sanam de do
agar mujh se muhabbat hai
shareek-e-zindagi ko kyun
shareek-e-gham nahin karte
dukhon ko baant kar kyun
in dukhon ko kam nahin karte
tadap is dil ki thodi si
mujhe mere sanam de do
agar mujh se muhabbat hai
in aankhon mein na ab mujhko
kabhi aansoo nazar aaye
in aankhon mein na ab mujhko
kabhi aansoo nazar aaye
sadaaa hansti rahe aankhen
sada ye honth muskaayen
mujhe apni sabhi aahen
sabhi dardo alam de do
agar mujh se muhabbat hai
mujhe sab apne gham de do
in aankhon kaa har ik aansoo
mujhe meri qasam de do
agar mujh se muhabbat hai

Thanks, Atuil!
Raja and Atul, I really don’t deserve any thanks, all I did was come here to listen to the song, which came to me as I was doing something and I found myself humming it. Yes, this song is absolutely lovely and Lata made it even more so – is such a thing possible? The lyrics are great, the music adds to its beauty, I could go on forever, and I am surprised that I hadn’t noticed its absence earlier!

I just LOVE this song. Absolutely fantastic in every sense. Lyrics are very good, not to mention Lata’s voice for Madan Mohan.
Thanks, Atul.
And thanks, Lalitha, for noticing that this was not posted yet.
