Kabhi ye to mujhse poochho

Posted on: January 23, 2011

Look what I just discovered. While looking for some other songs,I just stumbled against a rare gem !

Here is this song from “Dhuaan” (1953). This song is a duet. Prima facie, it sounds like a song sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata, but the male voice is not Kishore Kumar. It belongs to Krishna Goel, and it is the first time I have become aware of this name.

The song is written by Rajinder Krishan. This movie had two music directors, viz Vasant Desai and Dhaniram. This song is composed by Dhaniram.

What a superb song it is ! Instead of lying forgotten, this song deserves to be well known among music lovers.

Song-Kabhi ye to mujhse poochho (Dhuaan) (1953) Singer-Krishna Goel, Lata, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-Dhaniram

Lyrics

ho ho ho ho ho ho
ho ho ho ho ho ho
ho ho ho ho ho
aa haa haa haiyya
ho ho ho haiyya
aa haa haa haiyya
ho ho ho haiyya

kabhi ye to mujhse poochho
kabhi ye to mujhse poochho
mujhe tumse pyaar kyun hai
dil beqaraar kyun hai
dil beqaraar kyun hai
kabhi ye to mujhse poochho
kabhi ye
kabhi ye to mujhse poochho
mujhe tumse pyaar kyun hai
dil beqaraar kyun hai
dil beqaraar kyun hai

mere paas paas hoke
kyun door ho rahe ho
kyun door ho rahe ho
mere paas paas hoke
kyun door ho rahe ho
kyun door ho rahe ho
mazboor kar rahe ho
mazboor ho rahe ho
mazboor ho rahe ho
tum aa chuke ho phir bhi
tum aa
tum aa chuke ho phir bhi
mujhe intezaar kyun hai
dil beqaraar kyun hai
dil beqaraar kyun hai

meri zindagi mein aake
meri hasraten jagaake
meri hasraten jagaake
meri zindagi mein aake
meri hasraten jagaake
meri hasraten jagaake
mujhe bhool se na dekha
kabhi tumne muskuraake
kabhi tumne muskuraake
ye kaho ke phir bhi tumpar
ye kaho
ye kaho ke phir bhi tumpar
mujhe aitbaar kyun hai
dil beqaraar kyun hai
dil beqaraar kyun hai

Never heard this song before.
It is indeed a very pleasant song to listen to.

Just proves your point, Atul, that there are still plenty of treasures out there still remaining to be unearthed.

There was one melancholy song in this film sung by Krishna Goel – Saathi na bane koi….. I had last listened to this song in early 70’s and in my view, Krishna Goel’s voice was a blend of Talat and Kishore.
