“Anuraag” (1956) was a movie produced by Mukesh, who those days was toying with the idea of becoming an Actor-Singer and was producing movies as well.
This movie had Usha Kiran, Mukesh, Mridula, Protima Devi, Shivraj, Uma Devi etc in it.
This movie, like most movies that Mukesh was banking on, failed at the box office and Mukesh fell on hard times. It may be difficult to imagine today, but Mukesh’s career as a singer was in serious jeopardy those days because other production houses had stopped using Mukesh’s voice as a singer because of his forays into acting-singing. something similar was happening with Talat Mehmood as well more or less at the same time.
The movie may have flopped, but those days even flop movie tended to have great music in them. and this movie was no exception.
Here is a forgotten gem from this movie. this song is sung by Mukesh and it was obviously picturised on himself. Indeewar wrote this nice song which has mainly simple Hindi words, unlike heavy duty Urdu words that was the norm in Hindi movie lyrics those days.
Mukesh was not only the producer, hero and singer of this movie, he was also the music director of this movie.

I am hearing this song for the first time. Thanks. But another song from this movie Koi dil mein hai koi hai nazar mein, mohabbat ke sapne main kis pe lutaaoon/Isee kashamkash mein jiye ja raha hun kise yaad rakhun kise bhool jaaoon is simply out of this world. It would be great if you could upload that also.
