“Shabnam”(1949) is a movie starring Kamini Kaushal, Dilip Kumar, Cuckoo, Jeewan etc. This movie seems to have lots and lots of songs in it that get played in the movie one after the other. Of course, I have not seen this movie and my observation is based on the number of songs that this movie has. As it is, I have discussed four songs from this movie and there seems to be many more songs in this movie.
Here is a song from this movie. It is sung by Mukesh and Shamshad Begam. It is picturised as a dance song in presence of Kamini Kaushal seated on a throne. she plays a princess or something similar and that seems to be her standrad way of entertainment in this movie. That is how people of influence entertained in olden days in the absence of TV and movies, I suppose.
The song is picturised on a mustachioed gentleman (who it turns out is Dilip Kumar) and a lady flanked by many dancers. this lady must be Cuckoo, i suppose though my inability to identify old actresses is legendary, at least among the readers of this blog.
Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist and music is composed by S D Burman.
