Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 104

This song “O Piya Behrupiya” by Asha Bhosle is written by Anand Bakshi and composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal. It is from the album “Kali Ghata” (1980).

“Kaali Ghata” (1980) was a Shivalik pictures production movie. It was produced and directed by Ved Raahi. The movie had Shashi Kapoor, Rekha, Danny, Aruna Irani, Lalita Pawar, A K Hangal, Jagdeep, Jankidas etc in it.

The movie is a romantic suspense thriller about a wealthy woman who survives an attempted murder and secretly returns in disguise to uncover the culprit, discovering shocking truths about the people closest to her.

Story:

The story begins with the murder of Rai Bahadur Satpal Singh, a wealthy estate owner. His estate is inherited by his twin daughters—Rekha (strong, responsible) and Rashmi (gentle, artistic), both played by Rekha in a double role.

Rekha takes charge of the estate with the help of the manager Diwan and his son Kishore (Danny Denzongpa). Kishore is in love with Rashmi, but Rekha disapproves of their relationship and sends Rashmi abroad to study painting.

Meanwhile, Rekha meets Prem (Shashi Kapoor), a charming and mysterious man who helps her when her car breaks down. The two fall in love, and Rekha quickly announces her engagement to him—raising suspicion among those around her.

Soon after their engagement, Rekha decides to transfer her entire property to Rashmi. During this time, Prem’s behaviour appears suspicious, and tensions begin to build.

One night, Rekha and Prem go to a houseboat on the estate lake. During a storm, Prem disappears, and Rekha is suddenly pushed into the water by an unknown person. Everyone assumes she has died.

However, Rekha survives and secretly takes refuge with her friend Pinky. Realizing that someone close to her wants her dead, she decides to fake her death and investigate.

When Rashmi returns for the funeral, the sisters join forces. Rekha disguises herself as Rashmi and re-enters the estate to uncover the truth.

As Rekha (posing as Rashmi) investigates, several suspects emerge:

Prem – whose mysterious actions raise doubts
Kishore – ambitious and desperate to marry Rashmi
Estate staff and associates – each with possible motives

At the same time, Prem and Kishore also begin investigating independently, each suspecting the other.

Rekha finds herself emotionally conflicted—especially when Prem expresses genuine love for her, believing she is Rashmi. This deepens the suspense and emotional tension.

After a series of twists, confrontations, and suspenseful developments, the truth is finally revealed:

• The attempted murder of Rekha and the earlier murder of her father are connected.

• The real culprit is exposed in a dramatic climax (identity withheld here to preserve the twist if you plan to watch it).

The film ends with justice being served and the truth coming to light, resolving both the mystery and the emotional conflicts.

This song is performed on screen by Rekha and we can see Shashi Kapoor, too.
