Ham thhey jinke sahaare

My readers may have noticed that I have been discussing lots of songs written by Indeewar these days. My readers (if they are interested in cricket) may also know that world cup cricket is also being played these days. so, to borrow a term from cricket, Raja ( a fellow cricket enthusiast) has also noticed that I am giving Indeewar much of the strike. The idea is to help Indeewar complete his century of songs in this blog.
This song is 99th song of Indeewar in this blog.I have requested Raja to give his write up for the 100th Indeewar song, which will also appear today.
This 99th Indeewar song is a wonderful sentimental song from “Safar” (1970). It is sung soulfully by Lata and it is picturised on Sharmila Tagore. The lyrics by Indeewar are the real soul of this song, as is the case with all memorable songs. And Kalyanji Anandji (who had forged a long term and fruitful partnership with Indeewar) have come up with this wonderful composition. This song (like the other songs of this movie) have quite deservingly gone on to become timeless classic. One can listen to a song like this countless times, and indeed I may have listened to this song many a times in the past.
Here is the evergreen song from “Safar” (1970).

Song-Ham thhey jinke sahaare (Safar) (1970) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Indeewar, MD-Kalyanji Anandji
Lyrics
ham thhey jinke sahaare,
wo huye naa hamaare
doobi jab dil ki naiyyaa,
saamne thhey kinaare
ham thhey jinke sahaare,
wo huye naa hamaare
doobi jab dil ki naiyyaa,
saamne thhey kinaare
ham thhey jinke sahaare
kyaa muhabbat ke waade,
kyaa wafaa ke iraade
ret ki hain deewaaren,
jo bhi chaahe giraa de
jo bhi chaahe giraa de
ham thhey jinke sahaare,
wo huye naa hamaare
hai sabhi kuch jahaan mein
dosti hai wafaa hai
apni ye kamnaseebi,
hamko naa kuchh bhi milaa hai
hamko naa kuchh bhi milaa hai
ham thhey jinke sahaare,
wo huye naa hamaare
yoon to duniyaa basegi,
tanhaayi phir bhi dansegi
jo zindagi mein kami thhi,
wo kami to rahegi
wo kami to rahegi
ham thhey jinke sahaare,
wo huye naa hamaare
doobi jab dil ki naiyyaa,
saamne thhey kinaare
ham thhey jinke sahaare

Absolutely love this song. Liked the movie too, though it is a bit too sad for me. All the songs in the movie are lovely. Lata does a wonderful job here.
