“Angulimaal” (1960) is a movie based on the life of angulimaal, a bandit who was a contemporary of Lord Budhha who got reformed after his interaction with the latter. This movie had Bharat Bhushan,Nimmi,Anita Guha,Helen etc in it.
This movie is a treasure of some wonderful songs. I have already discussed three songs from this movie.Here is another song from this movie. In this song, the sahelis of the princess tease her and ask her who her beloved is and how he looks. The princess,like a typical Indian girl in love blushes and refuses to reveal the identity of her beloved to them, and would only talk about him by giving hints about his qualities.
And the end of the song, the princess (Nimmi) is stopped in her tracks as Bharat Bhushan, her beloved, actually turns up at the site, much to the embarrassment of the princess and the giggling amusement of the sahelis. The lead saheli, Anita Guha, handles the delicate situation tactfully and orders the sahelis to get sparse and go mind their own business. And then she assures the princes that she too was leaving the place alongwith the other sahelis,and making the coast clear for the two of them.
The song is sung by Meena Kapoor (for Anita Guha), Lata (for Nimmi) and chorus (for the other sahelis). Bharat Vyas has written a wonderful song in spure Hindi that sounds so sweet to listen to. Music is composed by Anil Biswas.
