“Dr Kotnis Ki Amar Kahaani”(1946) is based on the real life story of an Indian doctor called Dr Dwarkanath Kotnis, who went to China and served the Chinese patients during the second China-Japan war in 1938. He is held in high regards by the Chinese people. He stayed in China till 1942, when he died of epilepsy. He was only 32 at that time.
During his stay at China, he married a Chinese girl in 1941.
“Dr Kotnis Ki Amar Kahani” (1946) was produced by V Shantaram, who himself played the title role. Jayshree, his wife played the Chinese girl whom Dr Kotnis marries.
Here is a song that is sung by Jaishree and is picturised on her. This song is sung in the oriental style and here Jaishree, a newly wed bride is dreaming of the matrimonial bliss that awaits her.

Atul ji,
I have seen this popular movie in my teens,but I remember that Jayashree’s make up of a chinese girl was so good that she looked like a doll.As such she was a shorty too adding touch of reality to her beauty.
Dr.Kotnis,who hailed from Solapur in Maharashtra,was a member of a medical team.Even when all other members returned to India,he continued to stay there,learnt chinese(Mandarin),married a chinese and had a daughter.
His daughter visited India,Solapur and met many relatives also,few years back.
His statue adorns the place where he died in China.
