Sheeshmahal (1950) is a well known Sohrab Modi production that deals with the ups and downs of life. The movie contains a number of good songs, four of which have already been discussed on this blog.
Thakur Jaspal Singh is a scion of an eminent Rajput family. Circumstantially, the family has fallen upon hard times, so much so that Thakur saab is forced to sell the ancestral villa. The scene in this sing is when the house has been sold, and the workers are carrying out the possessions, some for moving to the new place and some to be sold. Thakur saab (Sohrab Modi) is a mute witness to this change that is happening in his life.
The song is sung by Shamshad Begum, and is picturized on Naseem Bano. Naseem plays the role of the eldest daughter of Sohrab Modi, who is expressing her emotions on being forced to accept this significant change in family fortunes.
The lyrics of this song are by Shams Lucknowi, and the music is composed by Vasant Desai.

This movie has some really nice songs in it.. and Sudhir ji and Arun ji have given us such nice trivia across the songs of this movie’s posts on the blog. Sudhir ji.. this could I am guessing be one of your shortest posts :).
