This is another lovely ghazal rendered by Mubarak Begum. As I continue to search for her songs that I have heard before, I also keep running into songs that I have never heard before, and they are simply wonderful. This one I had heard before, decades ago, and have been searching for it for some time. Nowadays it seems that anything that is available as an audio or video recording, it will surface eventually on YouTube, so I keep trawling through this immense storehouse. Eventually I am able to locate this ghazal on YouTube. Only the audio is available, yet a relief that it is there.
As I tried to find more information about this ghazal, I find that this is actually not from a Hindi movie. This piece is from a 1965 movie, Morey Man Mitwa, a Magadhi language film. I am unable to trace any more information, except that the music director is Dattaram, and the lyrics are (possibly) by a poet named Lallan. This film has two lyricists identified. The names are Priyadarshi and Lallan. However lyricist’s name for each song is not indicated specifically for all. I am deducing this based on some indications, that the lyricist is Lallan most probably.
PS-It is Priyadarshi, according to Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh.
Information apart, this is another beauty, another soulful rendering by this talented artist. The singing voice sinks deep inside and touches the heart.

I am myself not sure, and that is why I wrote in the article that I have deduced this by some indications. Well, the indications are as follows. There are a total of seven songs in this movie. Of these, six songs are in the Magadhi dialect. This one is a different type; a ghazal which stands out as the only non-Magadhi dialect song in the movie. For some of the Magadhi dialect songs, the lyricist is identified as Priyadarshi. That is where I deduced that maybe Priyadarshi has written all the Magadhi dialect songs, and Lallan has written this ghazal. Since I could not find any definitive pointer in my searches, I stated this deduced assumption.
Thanks for digging the history. I remember this beautiful gazal would be played only very few occasion on Air India, when the presenter was covering the complete history of Ghazals or if someone remembered it was her birthday. I recently bought her two CD Ghazal collection and discovering some of her lesser known ghazals.

I never heard of Priyadarshi. Probably a pseudo name adopted by one of the well known lyricists of Hindi film industry for this film so that he is not tagged with Magadhi film.
