“Bindiya” (1960) is a little known movie starring Balraj Sahni,Padmini etc. I had neither aware of this movie not its songs till recently.
Here is a lovely song from this movie. This song is what can be euphemistically called “wedding night” song or post wedding song. This can also be called a chhayaageeet song. This song is sung by Mukesh and Usha Khanna. Or more accurately, Mukesh sings the song and Usha Khanna responds by humming. So this is a singing-humming song as well.
The song is picturised on Balraj Sahni and Padmini, of course. the song is written by Rajinder Krishan and music is composed by Iqbal Qureshi.
THough I heard this song for the first time only just recently, I cannot help but feel that this song is a forgotten gem that deserved to be better known.

sochte naaj(?) farmayiyegaa
” Soch ke naaz farmayiyegaa ” looks more appropriate

Atul ji,
BINDIYA(1960),was a typical south indian movie depicting Saas Bahu jugalbandi.
Produced by A.V.M.Productions for Kamal Bros.Madras,it was directed by Krishnan Panju(Ladlaa,Do Kaliyan etc),and the Music was by Iqbal Qureshi.
The cast was Balraj Sahni,Padmini,Vijaya Chaudhari,David,Jagdeep,Omprakash,Jayashree Gadkar,Achala Sachdev,Rajendranath etc.There were many south indian actors also in it.It was a story of Dervraj(Balraj S.) and Bindu(Padmini) who do a love marriage.Trouble starts when Dev’s step mother enters their house.In the south indian tradition,end is sweet and all gather for a Group Photo at the end.
Omprakash,who does a role of Shastriji,sings a song “Hari om katha arambh” in this film in his own voice and a record also came out.
Krishnan Panju,as the popular belief is,was NOT one person but it was a duo of directors R.Krishnan and Panju Arunachalam.They were very successful director duo in Tamil films and did about 70 films together till late 80s.They directed 4 films in Hindi also.

Dear Sir,
The director duo were P.Krishnan and S.Panju..Panchu Arunachalam is a different person, though he was also a very successful director in the 1980s, delivering a lot of hits especially with Superstar Rajinikanth.
