“Chhaliyaa” (1960) is a well known movie. In comparison, few people have heard of “Chhaliyaa” (1973). This movie had Navin Nischol, and an ageing Nanda, and the movie failed to achieve any great success at the box office.
The movie though had some nice songs in it, but these songs failed to become too popular, because there were other much more popular songs competing for listener’s attention.
Here is a song from “Chhaliyaa” (1973) that I heard for the first time only a few days back. Yes, I had never heard this song during 1970s. This is a nice song in itself, but this song, as well as its picturisation on the likes of Navin Nischol and Nanda was unlike to entice movie watchers to movie halls.
Here is this song, which, with the benefit of hindsight, is wonderful to listen to. It is sung by Rafi. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by R D Burman. Yes, it is interesting to notice that R D Burman used the voice of Rafi instead of Kishore Kumar.
