Tere sadqe balam na kar koi gham

“Amar” (1954) is a movie starring Dilip Kumar and Madhubala. This movie had several songs that became quite popular. I have discussed five songs from this movie in the past.
Here is another song from this movie which I became aware of only after nahm sent its lyrics to me.
This song is what one can describe as a reconciliation song or “sulking-appeasing” song, just that the roles are reversed. Here Dilip Kumar is sulking and Madhubala tries to humour him by singing this song.
My study shows that in the usual songs of “sulking appeasing” genre, the lady remains in the sulking mode till the penultimate line i the last stanza, and then she begins to respond to hero’s advances. But here in this song, Dilip Saab continues to sulk right till the end of the song. May be that is how it is supposed to be in sulking appeasing songs with roles reversed. Obviously more study is required to be undertaken in this field.
This song is sung by Lata. Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist and music is composed by Naushad.
