Madan Mohan (DOB 25 june 1924-DOD 14 july 1975) left for the heavenly abode on 14th july 36 years ago. 36 years ago, did I say ? Was is that long ago ? How time flies !
Madan Mohan was only 51 years old and was in his prime as a music director. It was just that he was disillusioned because his movies, despite outstanding music compised by him, would ends up bombing at the box office. It is ironical that the two movies with his music that were released after his death (Mausam and Laila Majnu, turned out to be extremely successful at the box office).
In his career spanning over three decades, Madan Mohan composed music for about 700 songs. This blog contains discussions on as many as 192 of them, viz more that 25% of all Madan Mohan songs have already been covered here. It is a matter of time before we will have covered almost all the Madan Mohan songs that are available for discussion.
On the occasion of Madan Mohan’s death anniversary, here is a relatively less known song from a relatively less known movie. The movie is called “Bahaanaa” (1960). The star cast of this movie apparently includes Sajjan and Meena Kumari in lead roles.
This song is a duet sung by Asha Bhonsle. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist.
When I first listenned to this song (just a few hours ago), I wondered how this song has managed to remain obscure. A song like this should have been among the most well known songs of Madan Mohan.

In the discussion of other songs of this film as well as elsewhere, the name of Meena Kumari appears for the lead actress. Why have you listed Madhubala here in the discussion?
