“Rajput” (1951) is a by now obscure movie which had P Jairaj, Suraiyya, Kuldip Kaur, Shakuntala, Leela Mishra, D K Sapru, Mumtaz Begam etc in it. This Jubilee pictures movie was directed by Lekhraj Bhakri.
Here is a song from this movie that I had never heard before. This song is sung by Suraiyya. Anjum Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Hansraj Bahl.
This song is ideal to listen to late at night when it is clear sky with stars and moon visible and the listener missing one’s beloved, as is the case in this “missing the beloved” song.

Atul ji,
When the name of P(aidi) Jairaj is taken,one sees the image of a 6′ tall,handsome and muscular body.Jairaj was a very unique person in Film Industry.He was an artist,sportsman,organiser of charity shows,musical shows,award ceremonies and founder of ‘Cine Artists’ Assn’ in 1939,director,producer of films and TV serials,a doting father and a thorough gentleman.
Jairaj(1909-2000),was born in a cultured,rich family of Karimnagar in Hyderabad State.Educated in Nizam college,Hyderabad,he came to Bombay after his parents died one after the other.Due to his height,looks and physique,he got main roles in silent films.He did 11 silent movies and his first talkie Raseeli Raani was released in 1932.He did 200 movies.Being a Hyderabadi,Urdu was no problem to him.
Here are some Trivias- He is the only actor with maximum Historical Hero roles,namely Chandrashekhar Azaad,Amar singh Rathod,Prithwiraj Chauhan,Rana Pratap,Tipu Sultan and Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
He was the first kissing star of Bollywood in Jagamagati Jawani(1932-Talkie) with Madhuri.
He did 3 foreign movies-Pardesi(Russian),MGM’s Maya and Fox’s Nine hours to Rama.
He acted in Hindi,English(without a dubbing artist),Marathi and Gujarati films,but never in Telugu-his mothertongue.
One of his daughters Deepa Shahi and her son Rajan are TV serial producers(Jassi jaisi koi nahi etc.)
