O P Nayyar was at the peak of his musical and professional prowess in 1950s. By 1960s, he was on the decline. But even then, he continued to create some sublime music till late into 1960s. I in fact feel that his compositions are arguably of better quality, even if they did not become as popular as his compositions of 1950s.
“Ye Raat Phir Na Aayegi” (1966) is a movie starring Vishwajeet and Sharmila Tagore. And like most Vishwajeet movies, this movie too was a musical treasure trove. I have already discussed as many as three songs from this movie which includes such wonderful songs as Huzoorewaala jo ho izaajat and
Mera pyaar wo hai ke.
Here is another song from this movie. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. It is picturised on Sharmila Tagore and Vishwajeet on picturesque locations. The situation is misunderstanding between the two and their impending break up. In this song, Sharmila Tagore reminds Vishwajeet of the promises that Vishwajeet made to her, only to break them, at the very place where they stood.
Lyrics by S H Bihari are lovely, and the music odf O P Naiyyar captures the mood of the situation perfectly.
It is a gem of a song.

There is another Solo by asha from this movie – Main shayad tumhare liye ajnabhi hoon, Magar chand taare mujhe jaan the hai. really great song. Please post it. Thanks
