Duniya banaane waale Raamjee

“Baap Beti” (1954) is an obscure movie. Not much information is available about this movie on internet, and the sketchy information available on it could well be misleading and wrong, seeing that Asha Parekh’s name gets mentioned as an actor in this movie, and that too in the entry of imdb ! That site also mentions that it is a Bimal Roy movie based on a Guy de Maupassant novel and that it had Nalini Jaiwant and Tabassum too in it. Now this information appears more likely. Tabassum , then a young kid could have played Beti. But who played the Baap ? I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this matter.
The songs of this movie are just as rare as the information about this movie. None of the songs from this movie are available on youtube or any other video hosting sites. That ofcourse should not stop us from discussing the songs of this movie.
Here is a lovely song from “Baap Beti” (1954). Only the audio is available and so it is not possible to guess how and on whom this song is picturised. This song expressed wonder at the creations of God (from the point of view of a kid, I guess) and how all these creations function smoothly like clockwork, viz Sun arrives daily to provide light, and it is the moon that performs night shift.
This lovely song is written by Pradeep. Lata sings this song and music is composed by Roshan.
Here is this rare gem from a forgotten movie. I enjoyed listening to this song. I am sure the readers will also enjoy listening to this wonderful song.
Song-Duniya banaane waale Ramji (Baap Beti) (1954) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Pradeep, MD-Roshan
Lyrics
duniyaa banaane waale Raamjee
ghazab ka hai teraa intzaam
duniyaa banaane waale Raamjee
ghazab ka hai teraa intzaam
roshni karne ko roz sooraj aataa
raat ko chup-chaap chaand pehraa lagaataa
dason dishaaon mein pawan pankhe dulaataa
laakh parindon kaa jhund jhoom ke gaataa
waah re waah vidhaataa
arre waah re waah vidhaataa kyaa khoob teraa kaam
duniyaa banaane waale Raamjee
ghazab ka hai teraa intzaam
duniyaa banaane waale raamojee
ajab teraa jaadoo hai ajab teraa khel
jalte hain taaron ke diye roz binaa tel
aag kaa hotaa nahin paani se kabhi mel
phir bhi baadlon mein lagi bijliyon ki bel
gehre samandar ke bhi andar hai dhoom dhaam
duniyaa banaane waale Raamjee
ghazabka hai teraa intzaam
duniyaa banaane waale Raamjee
kuchh zaroor hai teri kudrat mein karaamaat
kuchh zaroor hai
kuchh zaroor hai teri kudrat mein karaamaat
tere ishaare pe yahaan ban rahi har baat
ye zameen ye gagan,
ye prakash ye pawan
ye samudr ye pahaad ye giri dhara chaman
toone har ik cheez di hai binaa daam
duniyaa banaane waale Raamjee
ghazab ka hai teraa intzaam
duniyaa banaane waale Raamjee

Atul ji,
BAAP BETI(1954) was a Munshi Productions’ film Direced by Bimal Roy.It was one of Bimalda’s eminently forgettable flop film. The cast of this film was- Ranjan,Nalini Jayawant,Mridula,Nazir Hussain,Sunalini Devi,Anwar Hussain,Nana Palshikar,Baby Tabassum,Baby Naaz,Baby Sabita,Dolly Baby and Baby Asha Parekh.
( Asha Parekh, who was a dance expert from the age of 6,had already done acting as a child artist in Aasmaan-1952.Bimal Roy once saw Asha in a dance at a function and cast her,at an age of 12 in his film BAAP BETI.After this and few other roles as a child,Asha continued her studies and at 16 years of age went for a test for a film role.Vijay Bhatt rejected her for Goonj Uthi Shehnai(59) saying that she was not a star material. The very next day Subodh mukherjee and Nasir Hussain selected her for DIL DEKE DEKHO – opposite Shammi Kapoor- as a Heroine and history was made ! )
Baap Beti was a story of a middle class couple who want to ensure a good future for their only daughter and how they overcome natural and other obstacles successfully.
