Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Arre waah re dayaalu waah waah re dayaalu

Posted on: August 17, 2011

Though tens of thousands of songs have been uploaded on YT and other hosts, there are still lots and lots of great songs that are yet to be uploaded. I call them forgotten gems, because people are not even aware of their existence.

Here is one such forgotten gem. This song is from “Chakradhaari” (1954). As the name suggests, it was a religious/mythological B grade movie made with a shoe string budget and with small time actors. Such movies and their songs tend to get lost into oblivion, and this movie is no exception. But the songs of this movie are wonderful songs. I have already discussed three songs from this movie. Here is the fourth song.

This song is rare and it is quite a song. The song is sung by Rafi, Asha Bhonsle and Pradeep. Pradeep is also the lyricist of this song. Music is composed by Avinash Vyas.

This has to be one of the rare non solo songs where one can find Pradeep singing. One is normally used to Pradeep singing solo songs.

It is a superb song and I am sure readers will enjoy listening to this rare gem from “Chakradhaari” (1954)

PS-Later I found out (thanks to nahm) that the video of this song is available on YT. Now I have included that video link too.

dhanya chamatkaar tera
dhanya hai jaadoo

samajh mein na aaye naath maaya tihaari

jo sunkar tera damroo

waah waah re dayaalu

khelta hai kyun hamse aankh michauli
Prabhu aankh michauli

arre ho ho ho
khelta hai kyun
khelta hai kyun hamse aankh michauli
teri deewaali mein hamaari huyi holi
arre teri deewaali mein hamaari huyi holi
hamaari huyi holi

tu bada ustaad hai
guruon ka bhi guru
waah re dayaalu
waah waah re dayaalu
arre waah re dayaalu
waah waah re dayaalu

chaaron taraf panchhiyon ka lag rahaa mela
chaaron taraf
chaaron taraf panchhiyon ka lag rahaa mela

arre ho ho ho
chaaron taraf panchhiyon ka lag rahaa mela
toone to is mele mein hamko bhi dhakelaa
arre
toone to is mele mein hamko bhi dhakelaa
haay hamko bhi dhakelaa

ham to kahaan ye kahaan
khench laayaa tu
waah re dayaalu
waah waah re dayaalu
arre waah re dayaalu
waah waah re dayaalu

dhanya chamatkaar tera
dhanya hai jaadoo
waah re dayaalu
waah waah re dayaalu

aa haa haa haa

Atul ji,
Your observation that usually Kavi Pradeep sang solo songs,is right. However, like the above exception, there is one more song where pradeep had another singer.
Film- Kangan(1939) song ” Main to arati utarun….” singers Pradeep and Leela Chitnis.
In the same movie, there were 2 more songs(Kabir bhajans) in which Pradeep sang with a chorus.

Thanks for this information. It is my fond wish to be able to discuss all songs sung by Pradeep. I do not think there may be too many of these songs.

The MD – Avinash Vyas; any connection to lyricist Bharat Vyas who always paired with MD Vasant Desai, mostly for Shanta Ram?

Krishna ji,
There were 4 personalities in Hindi films,at a time, with surname VYAS.
Out of this Shankar rao Vyas and Narayanrao Vyas were brothers from Kolhapur. The elder one Shankar rao was Music Director for over 50 Hindi/Marathi films. The younger Narayan rao was a renowned classical singer of repute.
The others were Bharat Vyas, essentially a Lyricist (but also a singer,Story writer and Dialogue and screenplay writer as well) and Avinash Vyas, essentially a Music Director with more than 100 Hindi/Gujrathi films to his credit.
There was no relation between them, apparently.Bharat was from Rajasthan,Avinash Vyas was from Gujrat.
