O duniya ke maalik Raam

“Chakradhaari” (1954) was a B grade religious/mythological movie that the mainstream movie goers did not much care about. such movies were mostly acreened in small towns, where there was sizeable audience for such kind of movies.
And as far as the music of this movie is concerned, it is absolutely A grade, as was the case with most such movies. The reason being, the arists involved in creating the music of these songs second to none talentwise. It was just that they often failed to get assignments commensurate with their talent. It was more so for music directorsthan for the lyricists and singers.
Here is an absolutely wonderful bhajan from “Chakradjaari” (1954). The picturisation shows a potter (is he Manhar Desai) going about his work while singing this bhajan in the praise of the Almighty. The bhajan is written by Pradeep, and as usual he has written it with his heart.
Hemant Kumar, who was likened to a saint by Lata actually sounds like a saint while singing this bhajan. Listening to his voice indeed has the effect of calming one’s nerves as his voice reminds us that we are mortals and our fates are decided by the Almighty.
Avinash Vyas is the music director.
Here is this wonderful bhajan from “Chakradhaari” (1954). I have provided the audio as well as video links for this song.

Lyrics
O duniya ke maalik Raam
O duniya ke maalik Raam
teri marzi ke ham hain ghulaam
O duniya ke maalik Raam
teri marzi ke ham hain ghulaam
tujhe laakhon pranaam
koti koti pranaam
teri marzi ke ham hain ghulaam
teri hi ichha se ham jag mein aate
kuchh din mein hans ro ke phir chale jaate
teri hi ichha se ham jag mein aate
kuchh din mein hans ro ke phir chale jaate
sadiyon se chalta hai ye aanaa jaanaa
sadiyon se chalta hai ye aanaa jaanaa
ye jeene marne ka kaam
O duniya ke maalik Raam
teri marzi ke ham hain ghulaam
chaahe jitaa de
haraa de
chahe ?? de
tu jismen raazi
ham usmen raazi
tu jismen raazi Prabhu
ham usmen raazi
tera sukh bhi Prabhu
tera dukh bhi Prabhu
jo bhi denaa ho
de de inaam
O duniya ke maalik Raam
teri marzi ke ham hain ghulaam
tere hothhon(?) par jhukhaa taaraa taaraa
muthhi mein teri hai bramhaand saaraa
tujhpe kisi ka bhi qaaboo nahin
Prabhu
tujhpe kisi ka bhi qaaboo nahin
tere haathhon mein sabki lagaam
O duniya ke maalik Raam
teri marzi ke ham hain ghulaam
O duniya ke maalik Raam
teri marzi ke ham hain ghulaam

Contd….
The film was based on the life of GORA KUMBHAR (a Potter by the name of Gora),a saint of 13th century in Maharashtra. It is said that he was so devoted that, when his own son aged 1-2 years fell into the mud, which he had prepared to make pots, and died,he did not know this as he was engrossed in singing praises of Pandurang (God).he was the contemporary of Saint Dnyaneshwar and Namdeo.
