In 1950s, Mukesh was trying hard to be an actor-singer. He was producing his own movies in which he would be the hero and naturally he would sing his own songs. His career as a singer was sugffering as a result, because he was not getting too many assignments as a playback singer. To make matters worse, the movies that he produced and acted in, were proving out to be box office disasters.
Fortunately, Mukesh realised in time that his attempts to make his career as an actor-singer were proving disastrous for his career. He went back to playback singing and revived his career successfuly.
“Anuraag” (1956) was one of the movies that Mukesh had produced and acted in. And this movie had flopped at the box office. Mukesh had not only sung song in this movie, he had also composed songs in this movie. The songs, though good on their own merit, failed to become popular with the ordinary music lovers.
I have discussed two songs from this movie in the past. Here is another song. This song is sung by Lata. Only the audio of this song is available, but it can be safely assumed that this song was picturised on Usha Kiran, the leading lady of this movie.
Kaif Irfani was the lyricist.
The song is nice to listen to, but this song, like the other songs of this movie, failed to catch up with the music lovers, and was quickly forgotten. Now, this song is counted among obscure songs.
