Most movie songs that we get to listen to are from movies that got released. But there are a few songs which are from movies that never got released. Movies may have got shelved for varous reasons, but a few songs of these movies managed to get recorded and they came into circulation as well.
Sometimes one may come across nice songs from unreleased movies.
Here is one such song from an unreleased movie called “Zarina”. The song is a duet and it is sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle. Aanjum Jaipuri is the lyricist and Nisaar Bazmi is the music director.
Hardly any information is available about this movie. It is my guess that this song was recorded in early 1950s. I have provisionally regarded this song as recorded in 1955. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on this movie.

Khatau was a big-name industrial house of yesteryear – pity this movie got shelved. I’ve only seen a few Naseem Bano movies in her heyday (Pukaar, Sheesh Mahal, Nausherwan-e-Adil) but I quite liked her. Liked this song too.

ZAREENA was to be produced by Khatau Art Productions with an impressive star cast and a very special story.Accordingly,7 songs were recorded in June 1956,by Nisar Bazmi,using the Lyrics of Anjum Jaipuri.
The cast was to be Naseem Bano,Dilp Kumar and the direction was to be done by Kedar Sharma.
However,when the producer cum financer-a top class Mill owner of Mumbai-backed out,the project was shelved.The financer had to shell down payments of the Singers,musicians,Music Director and the Lyricist,after several legal notices were served on him.
