Bichchde huye milenge phir

Posted on: October 23, 2011

“Post Box 999” (1958) is a Nagina Pictures production which was directed by Ravindra Dave. The movie had Sunil Dutt, Shakila, Leela Chitnis, Amarnath, Tiwari, Krishnakant, Purnima, Mirza Musharaf, Ramesh Sinha, Manorama, Gulab etc in it.

I have discussed three songs from this movie in the past and that includes the extremely well known song Mere dil me hai ik baat.

Here is a song from “Post Box 999″(1958) that I came across only just now. This is a roadside tamasha song where two male singers and one female singers start singing and dancing in a public place and public gather round them to watch their performance. Most such roadside tamasha songs take place on beaches of Bombay, but here for a difference, the sight of this song is a Railway platform, viz Mughalsarai Railway station platform. From the amateurishly written name board of the station, it is clear that the song was picturised on a studio rather than on a real railway platform.

The song is sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle. I am unable to identify the small time actors on whom this song is picturised and I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify them. Sunil Dutt and Shakila are among the crowd.

The song is written by P L Santoshi. Music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji. The music seems to be inspired from “le ke pehla pehla pyaar”, but it is a nice hummable song on its own merit.

Lyrics

Bichchde huye milenge phir
bichchde huye milenge phir
qismat ne gar milaa diyaa
qismat ne gar milaa diyaa
uska Khuda bhala kare
uska Khuda bhala kare
jisne hamen judaa kiyaa
jisne hamen judaa kiyaa

bichchde huye milenge phir
qismat ne gar milaa diyaa

jab yaad meri sataayegi
aur neend na tujhko aayegi

haay
jab yaad meri sataayegi
aur neend na tujhko aayegi
phir karwat badal badal ke tu
haay dil ko masal masal ke tu
kahegaa kyaa

kyaa
bichchde huye milenge phir
bichchde huye milenge phir
qismat ne gar milaa diyaa
qismat ne gar milaa diyaa

jab phir se bahaar aayegi
aur khushiyaan hazaar laayegi
jab phir se bahaar aayegi
aur khushiyaan hazaar laayegi
to apna kaleja thham ke
dheere se mera naam le
kahega kyaa

kyaa
bichchde huye milenge phir
bichchde huye milenge phir
qismat ne gar milaa diyaa
qismat ne gar milaa diyaa

jab kaali badariya chhaayegi
ulfat meri lehraayegi
jab kaali badariya chhaayegi
ulfat meri lehraayegi
to ??
zakhmon ko choom ke
kahega kyaa

kahegaa
bichchde huye milenge phir
bichchde huye milenge phir
qismat ne gar milaa diyaa
qismat ne gar milaa diyaa
uska Khuda bhala kare
uska Khuda bhala kare
jisne hamen judaa kiyaa
jisne hamen judaa kiyaa

May be the female dancer`s name Sadhna(not the famous heroine, courtesy IMDB)(Blindly sirf andaazaa lagaa raha hoon, really I don`t know her name)

Further, I have seen only kalynaji bhai`s name as
KALYANJI VIRJI SHAH in the credit cards of Post box no.999,
Samrat Chandragupt(1958),Bedard Zamana Kya jaane(1959).
And also read somewhere ,He used to give music direction (under Kalynji virji shah name)as a single person at first .After 3 or 4 films he combined with his companion Anandji.

Arunji or atulji over to you for more information.

At least for BEDARD ZAMANA KYA JAANE, it is Kalyanji Virji.

Prakash ji,
It is said that Subhash Desai, brother of Manmohan Desai sent his car for Kalyanji to come and offered him music direction of 11 films. He said,” Iam a johari and I can recognise a Diamond.”
Initially Kalyanji gave music alone for Samrat Chandragupta,P.O.Box 999 and Bajrang Bali, but from 1959,his brother Anand ji joined him from Satta Bazar and Madari.
Even after doing joint work,in many films you will find only Kalyanji’s name as a Music director and asst.’s name as Anandji, for the reasons best known to them only.

I may be excused if I am wrong but I think Bajrang Bali music was by S N Tripathi

I have heard this song in those good ole days, and yes, it definitely seems to be inspired by “leke pehla pehla pyar …” in that only the setting has changed from the beach to the railway station. I used to think this song was filmed on the lead pair – my cousin and I used to do these pretend dances for songs, and this was one of those songs. We used to be on opposite corners of the room for the bichde hue part and come together in the middle when we were miloing! Thanks for some great memories, Atul!

So you knew this song. For me it is totally new song. I thought it is somewhat similar to that “Deewane hain deewanon ko na” (Zanjeer). Seeing i also thought of “Tu meri zindagi hai” from ‘Aashiqui”.

Lalitha ji, there is one thing about Shakila that i notice, she is mostly wearing that same striped sarees. I have noticed this some other songs too.
Regards.

“neend na mujh ko aaye” was the famous song and a regular on DD’s “Chaayageet” too.

That sari must have been really popular that year, because I remember my mother having a zebra striped sari too (that’s what I used to call it!).

Can anyone provide the correct two last lines of the last stanza of this beautiful song, which is full of hopes and positivity?
