“Ilzaam” (1954) is a surprisingly obscure movie. This movie was a Talwar Films production. It was directed by R C Talwar. The movie had Kishore Kumar, Meena Kumari, Shammi, Jagdish Sethi etc in it.
Here is a superb song from this movie which I heard for the first time only just now. The song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Madan Mohan.
The music, though nearly six decades old sound surprisingly new. I in fact feel that the music of “Veera Zaara” (2003) which utilised unused tunes of Madan Mohan may have drawn from unused music of movies such as “Ilzaam” (1954) etc. The tune of this song vaguely reminds me of a song from “Veer Zaara” (2003) though I could be entirely off the mark.
This forgotten song from a forgotten movie is wonderful to listen to. Its video is not available on YT as of now, though there is one upload that uses picturisation of some other movie. People who are unawre of the cast of this movie could well be fooled by that video since that upload does not have a disclaimer either.
