“Mr X” (1957) is a movie which was a Sippy Films presentation and it was directed by Nanabhai Bhatt. The movie had Ashok Kumar, Nalini Jaiwant, Pran, Nishi, Rajen Kapoor, Leela Misra, Sheela Vaz, Amirbai Karnataki, Hari Shivdasani, Helen, Johnny Walker etc in it.
This movie had some interesting songs in it. A westen music based song, viz. Laal laal gaal jaan ke hai laagu was one of the most popular songs of that year.
Here is another song from this movie. This song is a duet which is sung by Rafi and Geeta Dutt. Tanveer Naqvi is the lyricist. Music is composed by N Datta.

The idea of invisibility has always fascinated man.Right from our Puranas to Arabian Nights and from vedas to sacred books,everywhere it is mentioned.
In !897,H.G.Wells first wrote the story of ‘The Invisible Man’ and it caught the fancy of people all over the world.When Talkie films came,it was not surprising that starting with The Invisible Man in 1933,there were 11 films on this theme within next 20 years.
This fad also came to India and the first film Mr.X was made in 1938,by Prakash pictures.
Sippy films made Mr.X in 1957,produced by G.P.Sippy,Directed by Nanabhai Bhatt,Music by N.Dutta and Lyrics by,Majrooh,Hasarat,Tanvir Naqvi and Bharat Vyas.
Mid fifties was also the time when Rock and Roll was making waves all over the world.Bill Halley and his famous “Rock around the clock tonight” was shaking the world.No doubt India too jumped on the band wagon and during 55 to 58,there was a peak of Rock n Roll songs in Hindi films.Songs like Laal Laal Gaal and Ina mina deeka were the rage those days.
Mr. X was a story of an assistant to a scientist who drinks the magic potion and disappears.Unfortunately,there is no medicine to make him visible again.To make it more intersting,the Scientists daughter is in love with the invisibla man,there is a conspirator who does not hasitate to murder and kidnap people to achieve his neferious goals,police chase,discovery of ‘re-appearance ‘ medicine,kidnapping,fighting and finally the invisible man becoming visible after the culprit is caught and the happy ending with the magic potion getting destroyed for ever.
It was a very interesting film with Johnny walker playing Laundrywala,who uses the customers’ suits in nights and sings few songs,including the above and the cult song,Laal Laal Gaal.
