Main zindagi mein hardam rota hi raha hoon

I have discussed as many as four songs from “Barsaat” (1949) in this blog, which is obviously not enough, seeing that (i) this movie had lots and lots of fantastic songs in it and that (ii) it was a pathbreaking movie in the annalas of Hindi movies.
Here is another song from this movie. This song is sung by Rafi and it is picturised as a background song as Raj Kapoor and Nargis are shown separated from each other and feeling suitably melancholic.
Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist and music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

Nahm ji,
I think the word is ‘aaj’ and not ‘ aag ‘.
The stanza meaning,as I see it, is
when I did not get any companion in my life till now,for whom am I living now ?
I also checked Smriti.com and Gitayan.com
They confirm ‘aaj ‘.

“aag mein” jeeta hi rahaa hoon
In this stanza, he word is “aag”.
“for whom do i go on living in this hell fire”.
I have not seen this movie only the songs. I saw this song for the firs time, the other day. I think the picturization is very eloquent. In one room the song is presented in a dramatised form. I thought Raj kapoor is singing in the last stanza, though most of it is in the background.
