Yaadon ka sahaara na hotaa

Regaining the memories of a song heard long back, I tried to locate it and tried to find more about it. Thankfully, I am able to find the audio posted on the YouTube. But then all other information is new to me. This lovely sound of a melancholic melody by Talat Mehmood, is a song from a film ‘Patthar Ke Khwaab’ (1969), a name that I encountered for the first time today. Pulling together information from Geet Kosh, I find this film is produced under the banner of Nagin Productions, and directed by Pal Premi. The main list of stars includes Mahipal, Parveen Choudhary, Sapru, Madhumati, Amarnath, Mohan Choti, Jeevankala etc.
This song is penned by Pal Premi, and the music composition is by N Dutta. And the rendering by Talat Mehmood is as exquisite as only he can make it. Since only the audio clip is available, it is not feasible to comment on the on-screen performance of this song. Again, a request to other knowledgeable readers to help add more information about this film and this song.
yaadon ka sahaaraa na hotaa, hum chhod ke duniyaa chal detey
ye dard jo pyaara na hotaa, hum chhod ke duniyaa chal detey
Were it not for the memories
I would have left this world and gone
If this anguish wasn’t so dear to me
I would have left this world and gone
toota huaa dil, tootey armaan, teri hai amaanat paas mere
ye dil jo tumhaara na hotaa, hum chhod ke duniyaa chal detey
This broken heart, these shattered hopes
Are your keepsake with me
Were this heart not belonging to you
I would have left this world and gone
shaayad ke tere kaam aa jaaye ye jaan meri o jaan-e-jigar
qismat ka ishaara na hotaa, hum chhod ke duniyaa chal detey
O the life of my being
May this (inadequate) heart
Be of some service to you
Were is not for fate
I would have left this world and gone
ruk jaayen, kahaan hain kisko khabar, dauraan-e-safar ya manzil par
gardish mein sitaara na hotaa, hum chhod ke duniyaa chal detey
Don’t know where this journey may pause
On the way, or a the destination
Were my fortunes ever so bad
I would have left this world and gone

Goldenera creater and lover greats ALL OF YOURSELVES. I regularly see your comments. Whether 65 mm version of this film Pathar ke Khawb is available or not. We must request Film Archievs of India Pune. More songs are Sati Savitri-1965/66 and 2-3 excellant films. Dilip Dighe [GOLDEN ERA FILM LOVER]

OMG, I am listening to this song after a long time during which I completely forgot about this song.
Beautiful song. Should have been included in Talat’s ‘Blue Mood’ album.
