Zindagi ki kasam ho chuke unke ham

I had taken it for granted that the song ‘zindagi ki kasam ho chuke unke ham’ from film MAALIK (1958) has already been discussed in this blog. When I saw the movie-wise list of songs just to know in which year this film was released, I found that two songs from this film have been discussed and this song was not one of them.
The song is sung by Talat Mehmood in his usual melancholic voice which was written by Shakeel Badayuni and set to music by Ghulam Mohammed. The orchestration of the song reminds me of another song of Talat-Shakeel-Ghulam Mohammed from Dil-e-Naadan(1953) – ‘zindagi denewale sun’.
Only the audio link of this song is available but Talat Mehmood being the lead actor in this film, I can safely conclude that the song must have been picturised on him.
By the way, whenever I had listened to this song, I used to sing one of its verse as ‘aadami wo jo auro ke kaam aayen’instead of ‘aadami wo jo waade pe kaayam rahen’. It is only when I sat for jotting down the lyrics of this song that I realised my folly.

You made my day. Oops! Night here. My husband, a biiiiiiiiiiig fan of Talat sahab, sings this song beautifully. Hindi songs lovers will always miss Talat sahab.

I was all of nine years when I saw this movie. I remember Suraiyya and her friends on swings, singing “Man dole sayyan, jhoola jhula na re…” Her swing snaps and Suraiyya is thrown off and she loses her eyesight.
She’s engaged to Talat and they’re about to tie the knot when this tragedy occurs. Te rest is a bit hazy……
