In Hindi movies, most artists tend to get typed cast and most people can only visualise one standard kind of performance from them. When it comes to Hindi movie music, for instance, what kind of music does one expect when Bharat Vyas is the lyricist and S N Triptahi is the music director ? We expect songs that are either bhajans or semi classical songs.
Here is a song from “Piya Milan Ki Aas” (1961) which is written by Bharat Vyas and composed by S N Tripathi. It is sung by Manna Dey and Geeta Dutt. This song may act as an unbelievable experience and an eye opener for music lovers. This song is a wonderful western music based composition with Hinglish lyrics, which few people associate with Bharat Vyas and S N Tripathi. That is not all. This song finds Manna Dey yodelling superbly. And we thought only Kishore Kumar yodelled in Hindi movie songs !
The song is picturised as a picnic song, as suggested by the lyrics. The movie, which is produced by Vijay Films was directed by S N Tripathi and it had Sunder, Pratima Devi, Jeevan, Nalini Chonker, Daisy Irani, Indira Bansal, Polson, Ameeta, Manoj Kumar, S. N. Tripathi etc in it. I am unable to identify the actors in the picturisation and I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify them.

The main lead lady dancer is ARUNA(two dancers having name ARUNA are there,another Aruna is there in Yash chopra`s Daag song “Ni main yaar manaanaai with Padma Khanna),This Aruna is also there in 1959 Anaari.
ARUN is the main dancer who dance in Hrishikesh Mukherjee`s 1959 ANAARI(in the song “Sab kuchch seekha maine, na seekhi hoshiyaari”)
Another female dancer seems to be Memsaab favourite THERESA.
And the main male dancer seems to be one of the famous dance director KAMAL in his younger days(I don`t know that exactly, If I am wrong please correct me)

The girl from Anari and a bunch of other movies like Mr. India, Parvarish, 40 Days, Ab Dilhi Door Nahin, Aar Paar, etc. — is Meena not Aruna.

And that guy with mouth organ is there prominently in Mehmood`s movie BHOOT BANGLAA song “aao twist karein” dance song, as one of the main dancers.

Lady who starts the dance the begining of the song is the one in Sujata, singing “tum jiyo hazaro saal………”. Don’t know her name.

yes Khyati ji, She is the same dancer from SUJATHA,Her name must be I think ARUNA, Ab Arunji ka saath chaahiye

Kamath ji is right.The main dancer is Surya kumar.
This film had 3 choreographers,Surya kumar,badri prasad and Russi Billimoria.Kamal was not there.
the guy with mouth organ is Russi bilimoria.
the main dancer girl may be Ranibala and not Aruna-may be.

It’s definitely not Surya Kumar. Surya Kumar is the lead dancer in “Mera Naam Chin Chin Choo” and the saxophonist in the sad Kashmiri Ki Kali song among other things.
And the dancer is not Ranibala or Aruna. It’s Meena.

PIYA MILAN KI AAS-1961 was a Vijay films production and produced by J.S.Kashyap who also wrote the story and s/play.He wrote the dialogues with Pt.Priyadarshi.The film was directed by S.N.Tripathi,who also gave the music.
Naini(Ameeta) and her mother(Sulochana-Ruby myers) run away from Jeevan(Jeevan),the evil son of Zamindar and come to the river which isin spate.looking at the urgency of the matter and the 2 women,the Manjhi(Manoj kumar) takes the in his boat to cross the river.The boat capsizes,mother drowns,and Manjhi saves Naini and brings her to the kind pujari(Sunder),a widow chachi(Pratima devi) and Tongi(Daisi Irani),who look after Naini.
Manjhi is a flute player and a sculptor also.Naini and Manjhi fall in love,which is resented by Shyamo(Nalini Chonkar) who also loves Manjhi.Meanwhile,Jeevan traces Naini and together with Shyamo,they start troubling Naini,but Tongi helps and saves her everytime.
In the annual fair,Manjhi makes a statue of goddess,which has a face resembling Naini.Jeevan and Shayo take advantage and call for a Panchayat,which throws Naini out of the village.
The pujari,chachi and Tongi make a plan,expose Jeevan and Shyamo in the presence of the Panchayat.The panchayat this time,throws jeevan and Shyamo out of the village and brings Naini back with honour.
naini and Manjhi reunite.

actually u can’t take ur eyes of the dance & the dancers. i ve also noted that when choreographers dance they execute perfect and complez steps with ease. i can’t imagine what a regular hero would ve done to this dance

The lead female dancer is Meena. Her partner I don’t know. He is not Surya Kumar I’m sure.

The harmony player is Robert I think.
He’s followed by Teresa and Tony Pereira who do a swirl.
Then Abe Cohen and Pamela (Alphonso) do a twirl.
Then the fat duo (who are siblings irl) Polson and Indira Bansal step in.
Then there’s a line of women including Edwina.
Later a group of couples with Herman Benjamin at the far left.
Then the aforementioned dancers like Teresa, Tony, Abe, etc. come back (along with dancer Bhagwan).

While I’m unable to identify the two lead dancers, the two plump characters are India Bansal and Polson.
