Laayi kahaan hai zindagi

Yesterday Peevesie’s mom made her debut as a lyrics contributor by sending the lyrics of a song from “Taxi Taxie” (1977). The movie may be of recent vintage, but little information is available about this movie. That is where we can always log on to our inhouse encyclopaedia and get all the details. Here is what our walking encyclopaedia Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh has to say about this movie:-
TAXI TAXI-1977 was a special movie in many ways. This movie, I believe was Hemant Bhonsle’s debut film as a Music Director.
Hemant Bhosle, now 62,is the eldest son of Asha Bhosle. He was actually a Pilot, but left the profession to enter filmdom. He married an Air Hostess Sajida in 1988 and changed her name to Rama Bhosle. There were problems on the issue of “Woh”,in the marriage and Sajida left him and sought a divorce on grounds of cruelty. She demanded Rs.5 lakhs p.m. as maitenance and temporarily granted 25000 p.m. in 2003.The case is on . Hemant’s name was kept by Asha ji as an honour for Hemant Kumar.
Hemant Bhosle has huge property in Scotland,U.K.
Hemant Bhosle has given music to some 12 films and then he quit the field.
Secondly,Anjali Paingankar,a Marathi successful actress acted in this film as the original love of Amol Palekar. She has acted in several films .
The plot of Taxi Taxi is a simple one. Dev(Amol Palekar) is so shy in the college, that he is unable to express his love for Neelam(Anjali P.) who is anxious to hear from him. After college they separate and Dev comes to Bombay in her search. He has to finally run a Taxi, for living. The entire film shows the different characters that travel in his Taxi, like Zahira-a struggling singer and Rama Vij-a street walker, as Nalini ji has said in her post.
Dev encounters the various faces of life thru his customers. He tries to help everybody and therefore, when he is in trouble, his ex customers help him out. Meanwhile he learns that Neelam has been happily married now.
The film was racy, but little boring dut to peculier storyline. It was made wathable by the natural acting by Amol Palekar.
Hemant Bhonsle, because of his enviable family background could count on working with the cream of Hindi movie world. The earlier song discussed in this blog was sung by Kishore Kumar, the reigning male playback singer of that time. If Hemant Bhonsle needed female playback singers, he needed to look no futher than his own household. That is what he has done in this song.
Peevesie’s mom, who has sent the lyrics of this song mentions that this song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and it is picturised on her as well, with the picturisation also showing Lalita Pawar , Amol Palekar, Jalal Agha and Zaheera.
That is not all. This song also has the voice of Lata in it ! And the audio of this song is nearly two minutes longer that the video too !
Here is this little known song from “Taxi Taxie” (1977) which I heard for the first time only just now. And it is nice to discover a song which came about during my time and still I knew nothing about this it.

Lyrics(Provided by Peevesie’s mom)
Laayi kahaan hai zindagi
aaa aaa aaa
aaa aaa aaa
aaa aaa aaa
aaa aaa aaa
aaa aaa aaa
aaa aaa aaa
laayi kahaan hai zindagi
hai saamne manzil meri
phir bhi manzil tak main
jaa na sakoon
sapnon ki duniya
pa na sakoon
laayi kahaan hai zindagi
hai saamne manzil meri
phir bhi manzil tak main
jaa na sakoon
sapnon ki duniya
pa na sakoon
laayi kahaan hai zindagi
ghar se chali thhi
apni hi dhun mein
main kya kya armaan liye
pahunchi yahaan toh
chupke khadi hoon
dil thaame aansoon piye
nikli na dil ki awaaz bhi
laayi kahaan hai zindagi
hai saamne manzil meri
phir bhi manzil tak main
jaa na sakoon
sapnon ki duniya
pa na sakoon
laayi kahaan hai zindagi
aa aa
aa aa
aa aa
aa aa
aa aa
aa aa
aa aa
aa aa
aa aa aaa
aa aa aa
aa aa aa
aa aa aa
mera toh jeevan hai geet mere
chup kaise reh jaaoongi
ho o o o o o
hothon pe chaahe ho khoon dil ka
phir bhi main toh gaaoongi
deewaani main sangeet ki
laayi kahaan hai zindagi
hai saamne manzil meri
phir bhi manzil tak main
jaa na sakoon
sapnon ki duniya
pa na sakoon
laayi kahaan hai zindagi
hai saamne manzil meri
phir bhi manzil tak main jaa na sakoon
sapnon ki duniya
pa na sakoon
laayi kahaan hai zindagi
zakhmi kadam hai
ghaayal hai raahi
kismat ki zanjeer se
haari nahin jo
duniya ke gham se
wo haari taqdeer se
majboor kitni hai zindagi
laayi kahaan hai zindagi
hai saamne manzil meri
phir bhi manzil tak main
jaa na sakoon
sapnon ki duniya
pa na sakoon
laayi kahaan hai zindagi
laayi kahaan hai zindagi
laayi kahaan hai zindagi

The music arranger shown in the picturisation of the song appears to be Uttam Singh, the MD of ‘Dil To Paagal Hai (1997).

Really a heart touching movie having a lots and lots of scenes that makes eyes wet. Amol Palekar is unbeatable & unparallel.
In Taxi Taxie (1977) the character of Neelem was played by Reena Roy not by Anjali Paingankar. In whole film Reena Roy appears in few scenes only as background story during college life. Just for one scene she in on screen in realtime for less than five mins but with memorable quote
“……..Zindagi ka sahi usool to ye hi jo beete pal me kho gaya use bhula dena chahiye….. jo aane wala pal khushiyan laaye use apna lena chahiye…….”
Lalita Panwar once again recreate the impression of Mrs. D’Sa after Anari (1959)
Must watch this part of the movie from 01:32:00 to 01:42:00 at
