Blog 10-Year Challenge (2012-2022) – Song No. 01
————————————————————————————–
Welcome all to this article and wishing all a ‘very Happy New Year 2022’.
We are again taking a ‘fresh guard’ for a new ‘musical and entertaining year 2022 on this blog’. And, with the music and entertainment we do have valuable information about artists of the golden era of HFM, anecdotes related to them, information about the movies and the songs, and lot of interesting facts and known or unknown things about the artists of Hindi Films.
For today’s posting I was looking for a song from my favourite categories i.e., inspirational, motivational, philosophical and/or a song with a message.
I find a very nice and perfect song for the occasion and started noting it down. I listened to this song three-four times and noted the lyrics. But, ah! I forgot to check if the song has been posted or not. Normally, I do this activity before taking a new song, but in the joy of finding a very nice song I somehow forgot to check it.
This nice song was already posted on the blog on 18.12.2012. The song is ‘gham chhupaate raho, muskuraate raho, zindagi ee geet hai, isko gaate raho’.
This song is from the movie ‘Nazraana Pyaar Ka-1980’. I had to look for another song from the movie. The original reason for sharing a song from this movie, i.e., its eligibility for ‘blog-ten-year-challenge’, was still there, I thought to present a song from this movie.
The message with this post is ‘resuming of blog-ten-year-challenge’ for this year ‘2022’ by posting the song on very first day of this ‘new year 2022’.
So, here we take this challenge of ‘BTYC-2022’ with fresh guard 😊, hopefully for a ‘steady and a long innings’ till the end of ‘2022’!!!
Let us see the list of songs posted on the blog ten years back on 01.01.2012.
Here is the list.
Song | Movie title(Year) | Remarks |
---|---|---|
Saal mubaarak sahib jee | Do Jasoos (1975) | 5 of 7 songs posted |
Nayaa saal aaye tamaashe dikhaaye | Nazraana Pyaar Ka(1980) | 2 of 5 songs posted |
Aanewaale saal ko salaam | Aap Ke Saath(1986) | 1 of 7 songs posted |
It is clear from the above table all the three movies represented on the blog on 01.01.2012 are eligible for the ‘blog ten-year challenge’ today.
We are going to listen to a lovely duet from the movie ‘Nazraana Pyaar Ka-1980’.

Music for this movie was composed by Hemant Bhonsle.
Here is the list of the five songs this movie had.

As mentioned above two songs from this movie ‘Nazraanaa Pyaar Kaa’ have been posted on the blog. Today’s song is the third song from this movie to be posted on the blog.

Mausam bahaar ka
Palkein uthhen to
Nazaare hon raushan
Dekho jidhar tum
Sitaare hon raushan
Ho o jabse miley tum
Nazaare haseen hain
Tumhaare hi dam pe
Sitaare haseen hain
Hasti pe chhaaya hai
Aalam khumaar ka

Deewaana laaya hai
Nazraana pyaar ka aa
Chaahat tumhaari laayi
Mausam bahaar ka aa
Kaliyon ke honthhon pe
Rangeen taraana hai
Anjaani raahon par

Itnaa fasaana hai
Tumhaari hi nazron ka
Dil ye nishaana hai

Nazraana pyaar ka aa
Baahon ke gherey mein
Mausam bahaar ka

Mausam bahaar ka
Kismat se paaya hai
Nazraana pyaar ka
Baahon ke gherey ae mein
Hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm

Hullo Atuldom
So, we have post number 16700 up. Congratulations to Atulji on yet another Hundred. There was a time, not so long back, when we used to have a century every month. Atulji, please confirm, wasn’t there a fastest century too- a century in 16 days? In the run up to my previous post I had noticed that “this date last year” i.e. 15th December 2020, the blog had celebrated its 16100th post with this post which also happened to be the music director duo Shankar-Jaikishan’s 1000th on the blog. I was wondering how Atulji will make post number 16700 special and it is indeed special considering the time-period of that song (1947). Hearty congratulations Atulji.
Let us kick-start the new century with a song from the 1981 release “Shradhanjali”. This was written and directed by Anil Sharma (who was only 21 then), produced by K C Sharma and had Hemant Bhonsle’s music and songs written by Anjaan. Bhupinder Singh, Asha Bhonsle, Amit Kumar, and Shobha Gurtu were the playback singers used.
The movie had a cast headed by Rakhee (in one of her sacrificing Naari roles) and Deepak Parasher was her romantic hero. Arun Govil played her Devar (brother-in-law) who is in awe of her and simply worships her. Madhu Kapoor was Arun Govil’s romantic interest, Sulochana was mother to Deepak Parasher and Arun Govil and Rakhee’s mother-in-law. Suresh Oberoi played the spoke-in-the-wheel that topples Rakhee’s apple cart. Then the movie had K.N. Singh, Jankidas, Yunus Parvez, Manik Dutt, Keshto Mukherjee, Sonia Sahni etc bringing up the supporting cast; all of whose characters together make the movie a ‘sob-story-movie’ which became Rakhee’s forte’ for a few years in the 80s. The Qawwali singer Shakeela Banu Bhopali also makes an appearance in the movie for the song that was sung by Shobha Gurtu.
I have very little knowledge about the Qawwali singer Shakeela Banu, though I have seen the song from ‘Shradhanjali’ a few times in my life. Her facial expressions were very pretty. This is what our dear Shri. Arunkumar Deshmukhji has written about Shakeela Banu Bhopali in his latest post (and I quote, hope he doesn’t mind it)
The other famous qawwal in films was Shakeela Banu Bhopali. She was multitalented. She acted in 32 films, but sang only 4 songs in 3 films. She too gave music to just 1 film- ‘Maze Le Lo’- 1975. She died on 16-12-2002.
This was part of a post that highlighted Jaani Babu Qawwal in Arunkumarji’s current series on ‘songs from artiste name films’
As per what I read somewhere on the internet, she had lost her voice due to the Bhopal gas tragedy in 1984. She passed away of a cardiac arrest on 16th December, 2002.
On to the song that is part of the wedding rituals of Madhu Kapoor and Arun Govil. We can see Suresh Oberoi welcoming the groom and the baaraat of which Arun Govil’s bhabhima (Rakhee) and her chief advisor (K.N. Singh) who is helping her in resurrecting her husband’s business after Suresh Oberoi ruins it and is the cause of Deepak Parasher’s death.

Hullo Atuldom
19th July. The birth-date of our blog. The blog completes 10+2 years of uninterrupted posting of songs and write ups that give details about the movie, lyricist, music director, actors, etc. Also we can find the synopsis of the concerned movies here on the blog. What we get here is also accurate lyrics for all the songs posted. And if the song is a multi-version song even that is mentioned here along with the lyrics for the second version too, even if there is no change in the wordings of the song.
When Atulji started the blog, all those years ago, he had a page where we could post requests and he would hunt out those songs and post it with full details about the song. But he used to be inundated with requests and sometime in 2011 or 2012 he converted the request of one of the blog followers into a post. Plus he also asked a few of the regular commentors to write out special posts for special occasions. That opened floodgates to a deluge of contributions and what started out as a one man’s passion has grown into a channel for like-minded people to add to the growing treasure house. We have posts that are highly informative about artists and their lives, events that happened before some of us were born, and some posts draw our attention to happenings of modern times which we may have forgotten or overlooked. Hatsoff to this blog and Atulji for bringing together a such a committed group of HFM followers.
Personally, my first encounter with the blog was in 2009 and then I graduated to commenting too (this journey I have mentioned in a few of my posts, so I will not repeat). Then sometime in 2012 I sent the lyrics of a song from “Taxi Taxie” to Atulji as a request to post it as I thought the followers will enjoy the song. I had also sent details that I knew about the movie, the singer and the music director. Atulji was gracious enough to post the song and enlist me as one of the “lyrics contributors”.
That was this song. That inspired me to send lyrics to one more song from the same movie. Both these songs were from my Doordarshan watching days, when there used to be music programs where new and upcoming talent were given half an hour slots to showcase themselves.
And as I have mentioned in the comments to “jeewan mein humsafar, milte toh hain zaroor”; Hemant Bhosle introduced that song on Mumbai Doordarshan’s ‘Aarohi’ program. There was one other song in that movie that was filmed in the manner of that Doordarshan programme. The song showed the heroine Zaheera singing live in the studios, enjoying the words of the song and Jalal Agha taking care of the shooting and recording of the event. Those programs used live orchestra too.
The song also shows the typical situation of those times as we can see a whole lot of people standing outside a TV shop and enjoying the program. Amol Palekar is part of this group. We also get a glimpse of the interiors of a studio, and the lines on the screen, that used to be a disturbance in the days of television sets that used analog radio transmission.
The blog anniversary is usually a date for which I try and send a post where I thank Atulji for giving me a group of friends with whom it feels like we know each other for a lifetime. This year we lost two of them in a span of 15 days. We were saddened to hear of the passing of our dear Bharatbhai and Chhote in May. Both of them enriched our lives and the blog in their own way. Possibly god needed them. But the bandwagon is moving and we are learning new ways of living and communication in these lock-down times.
So here is a post to mark the beginning of yet another year in the life of Atulsongaday. For a change I am not presenting a party type song but the song which I have referred to in one of the preceding paragraphs. It is sung by Asha Bhonsle, Hemant Bhosle is the music director and Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist.
Wishing Atulsongaday “many more happy returns of the day”

Lyrics
bhanware ki gun gun,
gaaye meri dhun
aaja re piya tum
piya tum

bhanware ki gun gun
gaaye meri dhun
aaja re piya tum
piya tum
aaaa aaaa aaaaa aaaa
geeton pe meri jhoome jawaani
cheheron pe rang chhalke
ho geeton pe meri jhoome jawaani
cheheron pe rang chhalke
taare utarne lagte dilon mein
aankhon mein diye jalte ae
seenon ki dhadkan
gaaye meri dhun
aaja re piyaa tum
piya tum,
piya
bhanware ki gun gun,
gaaye meri dhun
aaja re piya tum,
piya tum
humne jo sapna
dekha thha mil ke
aakhir ko hua poora
ho humne jo sapna,
dekha tha mil ke
aakhir ko hua poora
par tu nahin toh
lagta hai jaise
har naghma hain adhoora aa
khoye kahaan tum
gaaye meri dhun
aaja re piyaa tum,
piya tum,
piya
bhanware ki gun gun,
gaaye meri dhun
aaja re piya tum,
la la la la la la piya tum

And with this duet, another film from 1978 makes a debut on the blog. The film is ‘Damaad’ directed by Raja Rakshit. This song I would not categorize as obscure. It was heard relatively more often on the radio, and continues to be alive in memory. And what a gem of a song this one also is.

This song came to my mind, right out of the blue. It must have been 30 years since I last heard this song. At first I thought it was a Kishore Kumar song. Then I felt this is the song from film ‘Souten’ which had many versions. I remembered the whole mukhda and tune still I did not realise that it was a Rafi song. Than I said rather than speculating what song is this ‘gham chhupaate raho muskuraate raho’ let us find it. So I found this song on youtube, both audio and video link. This turns out to be a duet of Rafi Saab and Asha Bhonsle.

on:Yesterday Peevesie’s mom made her debut as a lyrics contributor by sending the lyrics of a song from “Taxi Taxie” (1977). The movie may be of recent vintage, but little information is available about this movie. That is where we can always log on to our inhouse encyclopaedia and get all the details. Here is what our walking encyclopaedia Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh has to say about this movie:-

When this blog was started more than three years ago, it used to be one song a day blog, and the song used to be of my own choice. With time, I started receiving farmaishes and I would try to comply with them. Soon I was inundated with so many farmaishes that I was left with a pending list running into many hundreds of songs, if not more.

on:I was not aware that there are quite a few new year songs in Hindi movies. I may not be aware of them, but the knowledgeable readers and contributors of this blog are quite aware of such songs.
