“Ghatna” (1974) was an Aradhana Films presentation. It was directed by Mahesh Shandilya. Starcast of the movie had names like Danny Denzongpa, Priti, Achaarya, Satyen Kappu, Asit Sen, Anjali Kadam, Jankidas, Mukesh, Kiran Kumar, Murad etc.
This obscure movie must have sunk without trace because I had never heard of this movie, even though it was released at a time when I was as my precocious best.
Here is a song from this movie. This lovely song which was wasted on this movie is sung by Lata. The song may sound like a Madan Mohan composition, but it is composed by Ravi. Ravi in fact has written the lyrics of this song as well. Now I vaguely recall Ravi talking about this song in some interview.
Here is this forgotten gem for the listening pleasure of the readers. Only the audio of this song is available so it is difficult to guess how and on whom this song has been picturised. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this matter.

Another Lata Solo song was there from this movie
“mere devta main tumhari hoon daasi”. One year ago,one reader of the blog sent request for this, I found that song today at you tube, I have sent the lyrics today for you Atulji.

Yes Prakashji,
I was debating b/w these two songs, but chose Hazaar baaten…..as music reminds me of Madan Mohan, top on my list of all MD.
The song you have send, Mere devata main hoon……. feels like Jaidev’s comp, specially in Tumhare Liye. (Don’t get mad/have mercy on me, if I sound crazy, but that’s what I feel)

I do agree with you that such a beautiful composition was wasted in this movie and you will feel the same with the song Prakashji is talking about.

Lovely song by Lata Ji. I wish we could see actual video. Not available anywhere,sadly. Lataji’s voice has nice ‘goonj’ in this song.

This song has been sung by so many singers. All the songs have the same stanzas. So is it a traditional song or originally written by Ravi himself and sung by many. Can anyone tell me.

Lovely song. I have heard this many times on radio. I don’t think Danny ever was successful as a hero. I wonder who the Priti here is, Ganguly or Sapru.

The Priti in this film was neither Ganguly nor Sapru.She was one Krishna Bose,who acted in this film with the name Priti.
This was a film about a cameraman who uses his skills in the wrong way and blackmails famous and film personalities and how he meets his end.
