Ye kya kiyaa re duniyaa waale

Posted on: March 5, 2012

“Beti” (1969) is a movie which had Sanjay Khan, Nanda, Kamini Kaushal, Kishor Sahu, Rajendra Nath in it. I have not seen this movie but it is my theory that a movie whose title included words like “Beti”, “Bhabhi”, “Bahu” etc tend to be a tales of women who are shown sacrifices just for the sake of it. I do not know whether I am correct in my assesment of this movie that I have made just by looking at the title and the starcast. I request our knowledgeable readers to help confirm/ refute my guess about this movie.

Here is a song from this movie. This song is sung by Mukesh. Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist. Music is composed by Sonik Omi.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Khyati Bhatt.

Song-Ye kyaa kiya re duniya waale (Beti)(1969) Singer-Mukesh, Lyrics-Shakeel Badayuni, MD-Sonik Omi

Lyrics(Provided by Khyati Bhatt)

yeh kya kiya re
yeh kya kiya duniyaawaale
yeh kya kiyare duniyaawaale
jahaan ke gham toone sabhi
mujh ko de daale
yeh kya kiya re duniyaawaale
jahaan ke gham toone sabhi
mujh ko de daale
yeh kya kiya re duniyaawaale

o re bedardi
o harjaayee
dekh li maine teri khudaayi
o re bedardi
o harjaayee
dekh li maine teri khudaayi
pehle hi mera dil ghaayal tha
aur bhi us par chot lagaayi
tu ne rulaake mujhe
dar dar phiraake mujhe
kab ke ye armaan nikaale
yeh kya kiyaa re duniyaawale
jahaan ke gham toone sabhi
mujh ko de daale
yeh kya kiyaare duniyaawale

subah ka sooraj
raat ke taare
ban gaye sab ke sab angaarey
subah ka sooraj
raat ke taare
ban gaye sab ke sab angaarey
aas ke bandhan todke toone
chheen liye sab aaj sahaare
mere lahoo ki kasam
aur bhi karke sitam
aag tu dil ki bujaale
yeh kya kiyaa re duniyaawale
jahaan ke gham tune sabhi
mujh ko de daale
yeh kya kiyaa re duniyawale
jahaan ke gham toone sabhi
mujh ko de daale
yeh kya kiyaa re duniyaawaale

Atul ji,
Your guess is on the dot. When actors like Nanda,Kamini Kaushal and Sulochana are together how can they stop crying and making the female audience join them in chorus ?Additionally there is a non actor Sanjay Khan who is of no help at all.
There were 30 film titles containing the word BETI and I am sure all of them must be tear jerkers. There are producers and Directors who aim at the gullible women audience of the semi urban areas and small towns who enjoy the film only when there is a scope for crying.this is also one such movie.
BETI-1969 was produced by K.P.Singh under the banner of his own firm K.P.Films and directed by Harmesh Malhotra,a ‘purana khiladi’, in making tear jerkers.
Sudha is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Verma .Her mother has imbibed on her mind the virtues of sacrifice for family and husband.Having done this, she dies contended.verma sab marries again to Shyama-a tyrrant to Sudha.Sudha (Nanda) wants to marry Dr.Rajesh (Sanjay Khan) who loves her,but her step mother decides her marriage elsewhere.sudha, unable to suffer anymore humiliation leaves the house and her job, taking the paralysed father on a wheel chair, without anybody seeing them(surprise, surprise !).No one sees them and knows where they went.
Sudha suffers due to poverty, sickness and a broken heart,Having ensured that the gullible audience had enough crying dose,Rajesh is sent searching for them. He finds them, but not before the paralysed father runningaway(on the wheel chair, hopefully),without informing sudha.
Finally the producer/Director decide to allow the lovers breath with relief and all is set well. What with Rajesh’s father and mother appreciating the truely sanskari bahu.

Thanks for the description of the story. So my guess was correct. 🙂

I’ll bet I could mine this one for my “Nahiiin! Face Gallery” 😀

I have already shown the way. Take movies with words like “Bahu”, “beti”, “bhabhi”, “Bahan” etc in them, and you are in business. 🙂

I know, except that it has long been my position that I will not watch films with those words in the titles, so I don’t have them 😦

In that case, movies with Asha Parekh in them should do.

Indeed, she is already heavily represented there, and I’ve only just gotten started 😀
