“Taqdeer” (1967) was a Rajshree Productions movie about a family that gets separated from its sole breadwinner (Bharat Bhushan) and lives without him. Bharat Bhushan, presumed dead comes back many years later and finds himself a stranger in his own home. It was a moving tale which was nicelty picturised. The songs of this movie captured the essense of the movie wonderfully well.
I have discussed as many as three songs from this movie and they all are timeless classics. Here is another song from the movie. This is in fact the theme song cum title song of the movie that gets played in the movie repeatedly, at least three times.
This song, which is a background song is sung with feeling by Rafi. The sequence of lyrics in the audio version differs from the sequence in the video version, but the entire lyrics gets played in both the versions. Lyrics given below follow the sequence of the audio version of the song.

Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Atul ji,
Thanks for posting a song from one of the better directed films .This was one film,which was also the Maiden film for Director Abdul Salaam,which was good in story,presentation,music and surprisingly better acting from the dud Bharat Bhushan.The ways of industry are truely strange that such a nice film did not get its due fame and name.
The film had really very good songs,like Jab jab bahar ayee,Pappa jaldi aa jaana and Mujhe bhool jaana.L-P jodi was in full swing during this period and gave us lot many melodies.
The film was a remake of a Konkani film,NIRMON (Fate/Luck/Destiny) made in 1966.The backdrop was beautiful Goa,which had been liberated just 5-6 years back and its natural beauty was not yet spoiled by outside enthusiastic visitors.
I had first visited Goa in 1964 and was really impressed with the honesty,integrity and purity of those people.Once I was travelling in a local bus.A lady was standing,holding the upper rod with both hands.She had a bag hanging on her shoulders.When the conductor came for tickets,she simply asked him to take money from her bag,as her hands were not free.The conductor opened her bag,took out the money,gave her the ticket,closed the bag and proceeded further.She was not even watching him do it ! such was the faith of people on each others then.
The story of TAQDEER-1967 was not a great one but was handled with restraint,avoiding melodrama.Gopal(BB) a poor music teacher is unable to fulfill the needs of his family of wife Sharada(Shalini-same actor who had worked in the Konkani original),Geeta(Farida Jalal),Mala(Kajal) and Sushil(sushilkumar) and decides to go abroad for earning more.His ship wrecks and he is presumed dead,though he survives,but has amnesia and wanders as a beggar for years.
Meanwhile,to sustain the upbringing of children,Sharda marries Vijay(Kamal Kapoor),the rich miner friend of Gopal.The family gets life’s needs fulfilled,but the love and memories for Gopal remain fresh always.
Gopal regains memory and comes back to Goa,to find his family,rich and happy.He learns everything and decides to remain unknown.Once he saves Geeta from a gunda and they become friendly.Sharda comes to about him,but even Vijay comes to know.Gopal is working as a mazdoor in his mine.Vijay plans to kill him and sends him in a mine where there is dynamite.Unfortunately,Vijay who goes there to ensure the explosion gets killed and the family reunites.
The entire film is handled deftly,showing controled emotions and getting better performances from the actors.Bharat Bhushan and Farida Jalal are superb.This film showed one thing that if handled properly,even BB could do better acting.
