Naacho naacho pyaare man ke mor

Posted on: April 17, 2012

This article is written by Khyati Bhatt, a fellow enthusiast of Hindi movie music and a regular contributor to this blog.

Punar Milan was made in 1940 by Bombay Talkies.THe movie as well as its songs were well known during its time. Music lover like Arunji would know how famous were the songs. I don’t know anything about the story of this movie, I had heard several songs from this movie, especially this one from my parents.

I was not even aware of the star cast of this movie till I watched this song on YT few days back. It was shocking for me to see Kishore Sahu in a Bombay Talkies movie but then again I am not too much familiar with this production company. The little I knew/remember from my father was that their movies like Achhut Kanya, Jeevan Naiya, Kangan, Bandhan, Kismat, and a few more were huge hits and Ashok Kumar, Devika Rani and Leela Chitnis were the favorites of this production company.

I was permitted to watch Bandhan, Kangan and Kismat on DD by my father as these movies had AK as the hero. I did not care about the movie or the actors at that age, the goal was to watch free movie. 🙂 . Punar Milan is yet another production of Bombay Talkies with a few melodious songs like aavo banaye gharva pyaara, saiyan tu ek pheri aaja, ji bhar bhar ke hansle, etc. Cast includes Kishore Sahu, Snehaprabha Pradhan, Anjali Devi, Mumtaz Ali etc. The music is given by Ramchandra Pal. The info on web gives credit to Pradeepji as a lyricist of this song. Confirmation is needed by our readers on any of the info provided here.

Here is a song “nacho nacho pyaare man ke mor” from this film. There are two versions of this song. In the first version, Kishore Sahu is writing this song when his sister enters the room. She is forced to listen to this song by her brother. The singer is Arun Kumar. In the second version, which is an extension of the first one, Snehaprabha Pradhan is dancing singing in her own voice. The grace with which SP is dancing with her hand movements is amazing!

Song-Naacho naacho pyaare man ke mor (Punarmilan)(1940) Singer-Arun Kumar/ Snehlata Pradhan, Lyrics-Pradeep, MD-Ramchandra Pal

Lyrics

naacho naacho pyaare man ke mor
naacho naacho pyaare man ke mor
aaj mere jeevan mein chhaaya ashaadh
naacho naacho
naacho naacho pyaare man ke mor
aaj mere jeevan mein chhaaya ashaadh
naacho naacho pyaare man ke mor

chaaron dishaaon mein
rimjhim ka raaj
sargam ka saaj
chhaaya hai aaj
chaaron dishaaon mein
rimjhim ka raaj
sargam ka saaj
chhaaya hai aaj
ban ban ki daalon pe
hota hai shor
ban ban ki daalon pe
hota hai shor
naacho naacho pyaare man ke mor

aaj main hoon magan
mera tan man magan
aaj main hoon magan
mera tan man magan
sara jeewan hai
anand vibhor
saara jeewan hai
anand vibhor
ghumde hain bhaavon ke
baadal ghanghor
ha aa aa
ghumde hain bhaavon ke
baadal ghanghor
naacho naacho pyaare man ke mor
naacho naacho
naacho naacho

badal mein chhip ke
moti lutaane
baadal mein chhip ke
moti lutaane
neend bhare
mere sapne jagaane
neend bhare
mere sapne jagaane
angna mein aaye
mere chitchor
angna mein aaye
mere chitchor
angna mein aaye
mere chitchor
naacho naacho pyaare man ke mor

Atul ji / Khyati ji,

You have made my day by posting and discussing this song of the 40s.

PUNARMILAN-1940 was a Bombay Talkies film, directed by Najam Naqvi.
Najamul Hassan Naqvi, born on 11-4-1913 at Rampur in UP,was anActor,Director and Producer.During his period only another actor Najamul Hassan of Bombay Talkies had become infamous as he had eloped with Devika Rani to Calcutta. Therefore this Naqvi changed his name to a short Najam Naqvi,to differentiate between the two of them.
Naqvi directed some 20 films, some of them being-Actress,Naya Tarana,Nateeja,Rangeeli,Nirdosh etc.Naqvi migrated to Pakistan and died in Lahore in 1982.
The music was by Ramchandra Pal,who operated between 1932 to 1962.Very few people know that he was a full-fledged medical Doctor. After leaving films he opened a clinic in Dadar,Bombay and practiced there till 1988.
Pal began by giving music to 2 Tamil and 2 Bangla films. Then he joined Bombay Talkies in 1939-40 and gave music to Kangan,Azad,Bandhan(with S.Devi),Punarmilan and Naya Sansar. He gave music to 23 films, last one was Raj Nandini-1962(Unreleased).He had also composed for Prem Sagar-1939,the First ever Hindi film made in south.
The lyrics were by J.S.Casshyap(father of Kamini Kaushal),pradeep,Pt.Indra and Pt.Anand Kr.There were 10 songs.
PUNARMILAN-1940 opens with a party hosted for celebrating the graduation of Kumar(Kishore Sahu),son of Gopinath,a rich Landlord.Jayanti(Sunalini Devi) ,his daughter is also present. After the parti,in the night,Kumar finds Gangaram, the close friend of Gopinath, murdered and Gopinath standing with a Pistol.Kumar takes the Pistol and runs away to take the murder’s blame on him.Gopinath gets a paralytic attack and can not communicate.Ploice chase kumar in vain.
Kumar runs to another town, where he faints near the house of Koyal(Snehprabha Pradhan) a street dancer/singer.She takes him, nurses him and in due course falls in love with him,as per the scriptwriter’s wishes.
Meanwhile, jayanti brings her father to the same town for treatment.A suave but crook businessman Mnohar(Peethawala) befriends her.To please her,he fixes the programme of Koyal in a theatre, where Jayanti meets her brother,Kumar.Maqnohar sees this and starts blackmailing Jayanti for marriage. She is taken to a Resthouse.koyal and Kumar reach there and rescue Jayanti but Kumar is arrested.
Meanwhile,Gopinath responds to the treatment and gives a statement to police that he killed Gangaram,as he was trying to rape Jayanti.
Kumar is released and there is Punarmilan of Kumar and Koyal.

As usual, a wealth of information here, Arunji. Thanks a lot.

I did not know J.S.Casshyap was the father of Kamini Kaushal. I watched Achhut Kanya recently and noticed that he had written the dialogues and the songs.

Everyday I learn something new from your posts. Yesterday it was about Rehman, today it is about Kamini Kaushal. Thank you so much.

Sorry to enter late but while searching for Snehprabha Pradhan, I happen to read this interesting post and as usual an interesting piece of information by Arunji.
However, I’m afraid a there is a little slip about a name. J.S.(Jamuna swaroop) Kashyap was not Kamini Kaushal’s father. Kamini’s father was Raibahadur S.R.Kashyap.

Biren ji,
Thank you very much for the correction.
I had realised my mistake afterwards, but forgot where I had written this comment,so I could not correct it. Now that you have informed my,by mail this link,I can request Atul ji to drop that line from my synopsis ‘
” The lyrics were by J.S.Casshyap(father of kamini Kaushal)”

Atul ji,

Please do the needful and oblige.
