“Sangeet Samrat Tansen” (1962) was a movie based on Tansen’s tale. A movie on this topic was already made two decades ago where K L Saigal had played the title role.
“Sangeet Samrat Tansen”(1962) saw Bharat Bhushan essay the role of Tansen. In this movie he got to lip sync some awesome songs that compared favourably with the music of K L Saigal’s Tansen (1943).
Most of the songs in “Sangeet Samrat Tansen” (1962) were sung by Manna Dey and it was a rare opportunity for him to be the lead singer in a movie. And Manna Dey did a great job.
As many as four songs from this movie have been discussed in this blog. Here is another song from the movie. This sung is sung by Manna Dey and another voice whom I cannot indentify. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the other singer.
A song with similar lyrics was there in K L Saigal’s Tansen too. The lyrics were reputedly written by Tansen himself, though it is not unusaul for Shailendra to be mentined as the lyricist for this song in this movie.
Video of the song is quite brief and leaves the listener high and dry. Full audio of the song is rare to find and listening to the full audio of song is a far more satisfying experience. I have included the full audio of the song too for the listening pleasure of the music lovers.

I found the name of Pt. Pandharinath Kolhapure as one of the singers for this movie. Not sure if he is the other singer in this song, though he is on the credits of some other songs.

II OM SAI RAM II ..haven’t been able to hear this songs since decades, but as I remember, the words are ‘Arpan Prabhu aage’ in place of ‘har pal Prabhu aage’. Can you please double check and let me know? Thanks
