Reading the writeup of Shri Sadanand Kamathji which I just read, I was transported to my post SSC days when I was an aspiring lyricist. During the 2 months holidays I wrote about 10 filmi songs. I went to Rajendra Krishanji at Shri Sound Studio, Dadar. (In the background Om Prakash was being given a massage by his servant) He was kind and patient enough to hear my songs. He would recite/repeat every 2 lines perfectly. I requested him to employ at least few of them. He expressed his inability to do so saying that ‘We write as per the situation’ I requested him to give me any situation. He gave me one: Hero and heroine are very much in love resulting in heroine becoming pregnant. The hero panics and leaves her. She sings in grief. I had to make the lyrics as per this situation. I said confidently (false bravado)’Give me 2 days I will be back with the song’. It was something new for me and situation also had no precedent to fall back upon. After 2 days I went to him with the following song:

tune mere kokh ki ruswai karke mitaya hai suhag
abb to buzaye nahi buzti mere dil ki aag har modh pe sukoon diya hamne raahe e zindagi me aaj maalum huwa kitni hai zafa aadmi me pehale mile thhe ham mai chur thhi teri yaad me abb wahi dukhiya abhagan chur hai naashaad me tunne saath rehane ka mujhse kiya thha vaada abb na jaane kaise badal gaya tera irada
I recited the song. He was impressed and asked who was my guru; I said I am my own guru. Now you must accept the song and use it in your picture. He said to go to MD Ravi. I said give me a note/letter. He said just give my name. I knew he was giving a ‘taang’. Still I met Ravi at his Santacruz bungalow. As I was knowing he expressed his inability to accept anybody’s song except Sahir, Shakeel, Prem Dhawan and Rajindra Krishnan. I made the decision that this line was not for me. Then started concentrating on studies

Hahaha. That is a good account of your experience as a budding lyricist. Perhaps you should write an article or two on your experiences with film personalities.

Dekho Nitinbhai, agar aap bhi film line mein chale jaate to SHAYAD itne achhe na rahe paate. I am not trying to be -ve here, but that’s the fact and reality. Name, fame and wealth achhe se achhe AADMI ko ………..bana deta hai. Aap samajh gaye hoge ki main kya kahena chahti hoon. Aur doosri baat ye bhi hai ki humko ek achha contributor bhi na milta. Jo hota hai achhe ke liye hota hai. Like Atulji has said, you can share your experiences with us. Atulji won’t ask you to right the post depending on the situation like in film industry. Instead he gives everybody all freedom to share their experiences. And that’s what I like about him.

The actor SHASHI KAPOOR who is in the cast of this film is NOT the Shashi Kapoor-brother of Raj Kapoor and a popular Hero in 60s and 70s.
This is another Shashi Kapoor(senior),about whom not much info is available,except that he acted in 16 or so films during the period 1944 to 1954.
Wikipedia and some other sites erroneously state that Shashi Kapoor(Raj brother)began acting in many mythological films from childhood.It was SK(Sr.) and not him who acted in those films.
Shashi Kapoor(Raj Bro) acted as a child only in 2 films-Aag-1948 and Aawara-1951.In both these films his name in the credits is SHASHI RAJ (and Master Shashi Kapoor).
The other SHASHI KAPOOR(Sr.) had acted in Meena,Bachpan,Tadbir,Bhakta Dhruv,Bh.Bilwamangal,Bh.Gopalbhaiyya,Renuka,Shaheed-48,Ram Darshan,Samadhi,veer babruwahan,murliwala,Mordhwaj,Sanskar,Danapani and Mahapooja-his last film.
