Today (12 july) is the birth anniversary of Bimay Roy. On this occasion, here is a song from “Biraj Bahu” (1954) which was directed by Bimal Roy.
“Biraj Bahu”(1954) was based on a novel by Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay. The movie was produced by Hiten Chaudhary. The movie had Abhi Bhattacharya ,Kamini Kaushal, Shakuntala, Kammo, Pran, Manorama, Bikram kapoor, Baby Chand, Randhir, Moni Chatterjee, Sarita Devi, Maya Das, DasharathLal,Sharifa, Sailen Bose, Ravikant, Faruqi, Dheer, Jagdish, Sharma, JaniBhai, Iftekar, Shivji Bhai etc in it.
This song is sung by Lata, Shyamal Mitra and chorus. It is picturised on Abhi Bhattacharya, Kammo, Kaamini Kaushal, Randhir, Kamini Kaushal, Shakuntala etc.
Prem Dhawan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Salil Chaudhary.
This song marks the debut of Shyamal Mitra as a singer in this blog. I wonder if he is the same person whom we know as a music director of Bamga movie as well as the music director of the Hindi movie called “Amanush” (1975). I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this singer.

Kamini Kaushal had a small role to play even in the recently released movie Chennai Express (2013).

Yes Atulji, he is same Shyamal Mitra who gave music in Amanush and Anand Ashram. Info on web mentions him as a MD for Musafir and Naukri also. But the MD for these two movies was Salil Chaudhary. So, may be he worked as a assistant director. I would appreciate if some one can give right info on this.
BTW, the first stanza is by Lataji so color should be different.
