Nigaahon ko jab aa gaya muskuraana

Posted on: September 6, 2012

“For Ladies Only” (1951) was a Jaimini Dewan Production movie. It was directed by Vedi and the movie had Satish, Sadana Bose, Roopa Verman, Kuldeep Kaur etc in it.

This movie had eight songs in it which were written by six lyricists.

One song from this movie has been discussed in the past. Here is the second song from this movie. It is sung by Sulochana Kadam. Prakash is the lyricist. Music is composed by Vinod.

Only the audio of this song is available and so it is difficult to guess the actor on whom this song is picturised. The confusion is compounded by the fact that the songs of this movie were apparently sung by lots and lots of singers.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Mr Sadanand Kamath.

Song-Nigaahon ko jab aa gaya muskuraana (For Ladies Only)(1951) Singer-Sulochana Kadam, Lyrics-Prakash, MD-Vinod

Lyrics(Provided by Sadanand Kamath)

hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm
nigaahon ko jab aa gaya muskuraanaa
nigaahon ko jab aa gaya muskuraanaa
mujhe dekhtaa reh gaya ik zamaana
nigaahon ko jab aa gaya muskuraanaa

hai panchhi mere geet gaane lage
hai panchhi mere geet gaane lage
naye dhang se chahchaaane lage
naye dang se chahchaane lage
meri zindagi hai subah ka taraana
nigaahon ko
nigaahon ko jab aa gaya muskuraanaa
mujhe dekhtaa reh gaya ik zamaana
nigaahon ko jab aa gaya muskuraanaa

iraadon ka imaan phailaa jawaani
iraadon ka imaan phailaa jawaani
na duniya ki baaten mere dil ne maani
na duniya ki baaten mere dil ne maani
kiyaa hai wohi mere dil ne jo thhaana
dil ne jo thhaana
nigaahon ko
nigaahon ko jab aa gaya muskuraanaa
mujhe dekhtaa reh gaya ik zamaana
nigaahon ko jab aa gaya muskuraanaa

main bijli si ban kar machal ke rahoongi
main bijli si ban kar machal ke rahoongi
zamaane ki rasmen badal ke rahoongi
zamaane ki rasmen badal ke rahoongi
ishaaron se mere chalegaa zamaana
nigaahon ko
nigaahon ko jab aa gaya muskuraanaa
mujhe dekhtaa reh gaya ik zamaana
nigaahon ko jab aa gaya muskuraanaa

Can you tell us more about other films in which you have contributed your poetic talent? 😆

The photo of a radio makes me nostalgic. The piano-key radio could be found in only a few homes because it was expensive. I still have a Philips valve radio, needs repair, nobody can do it!!
