Today (23 september) is the death anniversary of Rajinder Krishan, an underestimated lyricist but who in reality dominated lyrics writing during the golden era of Hindi movie music. Among all the lyricists figuring in this blog, Rajinder Krishan has the second highest number of songs (554), behind Majrooh Sultanpuri (582).
Rajinder Krishan was an allrounder and in addition to writing lyrics, he has written screenplays as well. He was proficient not only in Hindi/Urdu but also Tamil ! That enabled him to find work in South Indian movies as well. In fact, he alongwith C Ramchandra were popular with South Indian producers willing to make Hindi movies, because both Rajinder Krishan and C Ramchandra were professionals unlike many other moody artists in Hindi movies.
Despite being a giant (invisible though) in Hindi movie lyrics writing, enough accurate information is not available about Rajinder Krishan. Many well known sites have incomplete as well as incorrect information about him. His date of birth in inaccurate in these sites and these sites think that Rajinder Krishan is still around.
On the occasion of Rajinder Krishan’s 25th death anniversary (he died in 1987), here is a song from “Madhubala” (1950). This movie was a Ranjit Movietone production. It was directed by Prahlad Dutt. The movie had Dev Anand, Madhubala, Manju, Jeevan, Randhir, Ramesh Talwar etc in it.
This song is sung by G M Durrani. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Pt Lachchiram.

Rajendra Krisha was born on 6-6-1919 at jalalpur Jatta in the Gujarat part of Pakistan.
He was a prolific writer.He wrote only songs in 200 films and songs and dialogues in 100 films additionally.He was so popular in south that for AVM films alone he wrote for 18 films.
He was a Race lover.He had struck a Jackpot of 38 Lakhs in Races once.
