“Baabul” (1950) was a Sunny Art Production movie. It was produced and directed by S U Sunny. The movie had Dilip Kumar, Munawwar Sultana, Nargis, Amar, A. Shah, Jankidas, H. Pahari, Vinod, Ismail, Nawab Premi, Jugnu, Chandabala, Seema, Meher, Rajbala, Khursheed, Uma Devi (Tun Tun) etc in it.
As many as ten songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. But it appears that a few songs from this movie are still left over.
Here is one of them. I had never heard this song before. It is a delightful boat song. The picturisation shows a boatload of boatsmen singing in chorus led by their leader (who is he ? ) singing in Rafi’s voice. This is followed by Munawwar Sultana lip syncing in Shamshad’s voice, not on the boat, but on the bank of the river. She is soon joined by Dilip Kumar lip syncing in Talat Mehmood’s voice.
This song must be one of those rare songs that have the voices of Rafi, Shamshad Begam and Talat Mehmood.
