“Bulandi” (1980) is a recent movie by the standards of this blog. So naturally I do not have much information about the movie. 🙂 So I had to look for details of this movie online.
That is easy, you say. Not always. Right now I find myself in a position where my home “broadband” is not working, so I am operating on a backup “narrowband” connection which crawls slower than a snail at home. I typed “Bulandi” on google search and I got a few links after a patient wait. If I click on one of those links, I am not sure how long that link would take to open, so I tried to look closely at a few posters whose thumbnails were visible. From the posters, I could see that Rajkumar got top billing. A smaller picture shows Danny and Kim who play the lead romantic couple in the movie. That is also supported by the evidence that the song under discussion is indeed picturised on Danny and Kim.
That takes care of the actors. Who are the producers and directors of the movie. One of the links shows that the director is Esmaayeel…
Then one of the posters confounded me because it had Anil Kapoor, Rekha, Raveena Tandon etc in that. I was fully aware that Anil Kapoor and Raveena Tandon were not around in 1980 as actors so I concluded that their “Bulandi” must be a movie of 1990s. So that is it then. I am not able to get the name of the producer and the production house since my google search pages would not open. Good that I had watched/ heard the song in happier times when my connection was actually functioning. 🙂
So without wasting any more time, here is this song from “Bulandi” (1980). This song is sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by R D Burman. The song is picturised on Danny and Kim. The song is quite hummable and it may perhaps be the most popular song of the movie, seeing that most searches on the google page mention this song.

Avinash ji,
I had written down lyrics of this song just 2 days ago. I was thinking whether to do the write up or just send the lyrics. You did well with this line in the second stanza ‘ kaash ye ghataa zaraa barse ‘. Kim is lip synching this correctly in the close up .
This is a car song and rain song. Anybody know about the inspiration /original song of this one ?
