Mera tan naache mera man naache

“Badalti Duniya” (1943) was a Murari Pictures production. It was directed by Mohan Sinha. The movie had Trilok Kapoor, Mumtaz Shanti, K C Dey, Rajkumari Shukla ( actress, who is different from the singer Rajkumari Dubey, who sang in this movie), Badri Prasad, Shahzaadi, Waskar etc. in it.
This movie had four music directors and five singers, but apparently only one lyricist. Together they created 11 songs for this movie.
Here is the first song from this movie to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Amirbai Karnataki. Mohan Sinha is the lyricist. Music is composed by Haribhai Bhojak.
Only the audio of this song is available and so it is diffficult to say how and on whom this song is picturised. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this matter.
Song-Mera tan naache mera man naache (Badalti Duniya)(1943) Singer-Amirbai Karnataki, Lyrics-Mohan Sinha, MD-Haribhai Bhojak
Lyrics
mera tan naache mera man naache
main geet khushi ke gaaun
mera tan naache mera man naache
main geet khushi ke gaaun
roop jawaani jab chha jaaye
meetha meetha sapna aaye
roop jawaani jab chha jaaye
meetha meetha sapna aaye
main sapnon ki raani bankar
main sapnon ki raani bankar
sapnon mein kho jaaun
mera tan naache mera man naache
main geet khushi ke gaaun
peeke jaam masti ke
piyaa jaa
haath hilaata jaa
peeke jaam masti ke
piyaa jaa
haath hilaata jaa
agar hai zindagi tujhme
tu raaton ko hansaata ja
agar hai zindagi tujhme
tu raaton ko hansaata ja
tu hansta jaa hansaata jaa
hansakar muskuraa jaa
aag hawaa aur paani ki ??
aasha roop jawaani ??
jhoom rahe hain man mandir mein
jhoom rahe hain man mandir mein
isko aaj dikhaaun
mera tan naache mera man naache
main geet khushi ke gaaun

Atul ji,
According to HFGK the above song is sung by Mumtaz Shanti. In fact the name of Amirbai Karnataki does not appear as a singer at all in any song.
I think it is not correct. Mr.Vidur Suri,in his detailed article on Amirbai also mentions that she sang in ‘Badlati Duniya-43’
(http://www.vidursury.com/2012/11/amirbai-karnataki-legendary-indian.html)
Only 4 names (K C Dey,Mumtaz shanti, khan Mastana and Rajkumari) are mentioned in HFGK.
From the film Kismet,Amirbai Karnataki had become the voice of Mumtaz Shanti, due to which mumtaz also became famous.Mumtaz Shanti is not known for singing prolifically-if at all, that is. HFGK allots 5 songs in this film to Mumtaz Shanti.

The voice sounds like Amirbai Karnataki. Vidur Sury, our Amirbai Karnataki expert also states that it is Amirbai Karnataki.

Thank you 🙂 For both appreciating and posting lyrics. For some songs, I find it difficult to identify lyrics, and thanks to your kind self and co – writers, Iam getting so many lyrics properly mentioned.
As far as I know, this is one of the many films in which Amirbai Ji gave playback to Mumtaz Shanti Ji. In fact, the Geet Kosh credits, I think, make it more obvious 😉
What Iam able to decipher is that, K. C. Dey Ji of course sang for himself, Amirbai Ji gave playback for Mumtaz Shanti Ji (the heroine), Khan Mastana Ji (also one of the composers) gave playback to Trilok Kapoor Ji (the hero). Rajkumari Ji songs are a bit doubtful, but most probably ‘Tu Mujhe Bana Le Rani’ was sung for Shehzadi Ji. The other one, the theme song may have been by Shehzadi Ji herself or some other side actress.
I wish these films with such nice actor – playback singer combination of 1940s were available 😦
My guess for how the song was picturised would be – Mumtaz Shanti Ji dancing. She was a famous dancer, and it seems natural since the lyrics have ‘mera tan naache’. Once again, thank you so much for posting.
