“Adl e Jahangir” (1955) was produced and directed by G P Sippy under the banner of G P Productions. The movie had Pradeep Kumar, Meena Kumari, Sapru, Roopmala, Jankidas, Darpan, Durga Khote, G.P.Sippy etc in it.

Today (14 september 2013) is the 99th birth anniversary of G P Sippy (14 september 1914 – 25 december 2007). On this occasion, here is a song from “Adl e Jahaangir” (1955). This song is sung by Lata and chorus. the picturisation shows this song being initially lip synced in Lata’s voice by an actress (whom I am unable to identify) who alongwith others tease Meena Kumari who is in love with Pradeep Kumar. Later on Meena Kumari too joins in the singing by lip syncing in the voice of Lata. That way, Lata sings for two actresses in this song. Pradeep Kumar is also visible in the picturisation who continues to try to attract the attention of Meena Kumari throughout the song by throwing what looks like flowers (pebbles would have been more appropriate) in the direction of the performers.
Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Husnlal Bhagatram
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra. Prakashchandra guesses the lady lip syncing in the song to be Roopmala but he is not sure. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify her.
