“Sunayna” (1979) was a Rajshree Productions movie. It was produced by Tarachand Barjatya and directed by Hiren Nag. The story of the movie was inspired from Charlie Chaplin’s “City lights” (1931). I must say that I quite loved watching the movie in a then newly built mini sized movie hall in Ranchi in 1979. One of the lasting impressions of this movie in my mind include the extremely hummable title song viz. Sunayna sunayna..aaj in nazaaron ko tum dekho aur main trumhe dekhte huye dekhoon. The other lasting impression was Jagdeep playing a fellow jailbird of Naseeruddin Shah who tries to help Naseeruddin Shah escape out of jail. Instead of Naseeruddin Shah, Jagdeep finds himself out of the jail. And from then onwards Jagdeep tries very hard to go back inside the jail, but to no avail. 🙂
Today (21 september 2013) is the death anniversary of Tarachand Barjatya (10 may 1914- 21 september 1992). On this occasion, here is a song from “Sunayna” (1979). This song is the movie opening song which gets played as credits roll on the screen. Somehow I do not recall this song which meant that I may have reached the movie hall after the movie had already started.
Yesudas is the singer. Ravindra Jain is the lyricist as well as the music director.

Rajshree Productions have given us many musical memories to cherish forever.
I have not watched this movie , so cannot say much about it. But its songs are all good.
Yesudas ji ki aawaz ka apna alag hi jaadoo hai !!!
