“Sachche Moti” (1962) was a Shri Dilip Chitra Production movie. It was directed by Omi Bedi. The movie had Zabeen, Suresh Puri, Johnny Walker, Sulochana, Manmohan Krishan, Jeevan, Master Romi, Susheel Kumar, Shammi, Gopi Krishan, Naaz, Helen, SN Bannerjee, Tun Tun Munshi Munakka, Ravikant, Nazir Kashmiri, Preetam Kumar, SL Shah, Ranjeet Kumar, Dubey, Moolchand, Madhu Apte etc. in it.

Little was known about this movie on internet till the first song of this movie was discussed in the blog. Since then, we know a lot about this movie thanks to the information provide by our beloved inhouse encyclopaedia, Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh. Here is what he has to say about this movie:

SACHCHE MOTI-1962 had a lead pair of Jabeen Jalil and Suresh Puri. Jabeen Jalil was a short petite but attractive actress. She was born in Delhi, but educated in Japan and Bombay, as her father was in foreign services of India. She used to take part in college dramas and in one such drama the judges were Nigar Sulatana and her director husband S.M.Yusuf. They offered her a film as a Heroine. Jabeen’s father had expired and only mother and younger bro were there. She accepted the offer. Her first film was Guzara in 1954. Her second film in 55 was Lutera. Her first hero was Karan Dewan and second was Nasir Khan.

She became famous in New Delhi-56, in the role of Kishore’s sister Nikki’s role. She acted in 29 films, out of which 6 were unreleased. She also acted in 4 Punjabi films. She got a national award in 1962 for a punjabi film in which her Hero was Prem Chopra. She married Ashok Kak, a Kashmiri bramhin in 1968 and she did her last movie in 1974 Vachan. In 1989 they went to US for 10 years and came back to Mumbai. Her son Divvij Kak is also an actor and Jabeen became a producer with jabeen International. She lives in Dadar, Mumbai nowadays.

The Hero Suresh Puri is an unknown name. Probably he is only Suresh. In the filmography provided by Jabeen herself Hero’s name in only Suresh. The director of this film Omi Bedi was a cinematographer basically. Besides Sachche Moti, he had also directed Raju-67.

Sachche Moti is a story of Raju(Suresh) who is a compulsive liar and a big prankster. His mother Shobha(Sulochana) and all people around are fed up of him and his pranks. Meena(Jabeen) loves him. She is also fed up.

One day, Raju decides to go straight and be truthful. He witnesses a murder by chance and knows the murderer. Therefore, when his friend Ramesh is arrested, he starts telling that Seth Dharamdas is the culprit and not Ramesh, but no one believes him due to his history. Seth Dharamdas kidnaps him to kill him, as he is the eye witness of the murder. Meena saves him and Dharamdas is arrested.
Though the storyline was good, the film was not successful.

Lyrics (Provided by Avinash Scrapwala)

Arre o deewaane
khushi ke zamaane
phir nahin aane re
maan bhi ja
arre o deewaane
khushi ke zamaane
phir nahin aane re
maan bhi ja

ye sharmaana
ye ghabraana
thheek nahin
aahen bharna
ji tarsaana
thheek nahin
ho ho ho ho
ho ho ho
ye sharmaana
ye ghabraana
thheek nahin
aahen bharna
ji tarsaana
thheek nahin
jeene ke bahaane
saara jag jaane
tu nahin jaane re
jaan bhi jaa
arre o deewaane
khushi ke zamaane
phir nahin aane re
maan bhi ja

hansti aankhen
jaise kaajal
dekh to le
mar bhi lena
pehle jee kar
dekh to le
ho ho ho ho
ho ho ho
hansti aankhen
jaise kaajal
dekh to le
mar bhi lena
pehle jee kar
dekh to le
jeene ke bahaane
saara jag jaane
tu nahin jaane re
jaan bhi ja
arre o deewaane
khushi ke zamaane
phir nahin aane re
maan bhi ja
arre o deewaane
khushi ke zamaane
phir nahin aane re
maan bhi ja
