“Albela” (1951), which was produced and directed by Bhagwan had Geeta Bali, Bhagwan, Sunder, Pratima Devi, Nihal, Maruti, Dulari, Badri Prasad, Bimla etc in it.
Eleven songs from this movie have been discussed in the past.
Here is the twelfth and final song from “Albela” (1951). This song is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Geeta Bali and Bhagwan. Rajinder Krishna is the lyricist. Music is composed by C Ramchandra.
In this song, the singing voice in uncannily like that of Asha Bhonsle, especially in the beginning. I double checked to see if this song was sung by Asha Bhonsle, but I found that this song was sung by Lata. We have instances where Asha Bhonsle had mimicked the singing styles of other established singers in her earlier years, and here she finds her well established elder sister miicking her singing style in this song !
The initial line of this song is similar to the initial line of the song “bhanwra bada naadaan hai” from “Saaahib Bibi Aur Ghulam” (1962), but this “Albela” (1951) song, which pre dates that “Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam “song by one decade has the word “Balma” instead of “bhanwra” in it. And curiously, I was not aware about this song from “Albela” (1951).

@ Shah Saheb & Atul ji – beautiful and lovely finish to cover up all songs of this moive ‘Albela-1951’. All songs from this movie are my favorite and C.Ramchandra ji’s compositions are simply great.
Also, congratulations on this movie joining to the list of ‘Movies-All songs Covered’…!!! 🙂
