This is the famous Jodi of female singers known for their duets which are popular. They are the venerable Asha Bhonsle and the inmitable Shamshad Begum. When I chanced upon this duet by them from the movie “Chaubees Ghante” (1958), I thought this would be a good inclusion in the series.
Three songs from the film are posted making this the fourth song. This song is written by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan and music Directors are Bipin-Babul. This must be a ‘B’ grade film judging from the starcast of Prem Nath and Shakeela as hero and heroine.
The song is picturized as a entertainment show in the wedding reception of Shakeela and Prem Nath. In the good old tradition, two female performers are performing this dance song, one of whom is dressed as a male and singing the male part of the song. I think it is Shiela Vaz who is dressed as a male, lip-syncing in Shamshad Begum’s voice. The other performer could be Nishi, for whom Asha Bhosle has given playback, but I am not sure.
This was a new song for me when I found it on youtube. But it is catchy and rhythmic like the more famous duets of Shamshad Begum and Asha Bhonsle.

Sheila Vaz is correct, but I think another lady dancer who lip syncs for the song is not Nishi Kohli,I guess.

Sorry wrong identification by me, 2 dancers featuring in this song are SHEILA VAZ & KANCHANMALA, that`s sure, I stand corrected……
